Angel fell to the ground as a telepathic wave so powerful that she was surprised it hadn't effected anyone else. It perplexed her beyond belief that this only effected her. It was like a sonar had pinged off of her mind.
She then thought that she could've been struck with a selective psychic sonar. She shrugged it off though. The level of training and discipline a telepath would need to create one would be... rare. There was only a few hundred in the entire population on this world.
She worried who it could be that was trying to locate her. Especially since she couldn't close of her mind completely - a curse of her power. She couldn't stop herself from accidentally peering into someone's mind.
Though those who trained to lock down their minds could sense and possibly block her out. She remembered how Esparonza's mind had be walled of completely, even in her coma. The wall was as dark as obsidian yet as strong as the metal in Esparonza, and there had been bright colorful burning spikes sticking out. Her powers had naturally tried to touch those spikes. A shiver tickled its way up and down her back as she remembered touching them, and the painful memories they held.
"Angel, are you okay?" Seraphina's eyes were pinched tight in worry.
Angel was glad that they hadn't forced Seraphina to join her team. She had refused to join the rest of her team, and instead fought to stay with them, with her. At first the guards tried to restrain her, but she just kept fighting, and so did Angel.
"I... I don't know." Angel pushed herself up. "I think I just got hit by a telepathic sonar."
"Can you tell you sent it?" She knelt down, and helped pull Angel up into a semi-standing position.
Angel shook her head. "No who ever sent it is way to far away."
She cocked her head to the side as she thought. "Could you tell if your powers were boosted?"
Angel grinned. "Probably. Let's find out."
--
Esparonza grinned ever so slightly as she felt as the ping returned to her. There was roughly a few thousand Metas down here, and on other levels. Though there was only a few hundred telepaths in the entire. Only one had Angel's signature though.
A few minutes later she felt a mind trying to invade hers. She closed her eyes tight - the skin around them wrinkling. Then another mind attacked, and then another. With in minutes she had nearly a dozen minds attacking her's. She had to stop in her tracks to mentally focus her energy into a single - very thin - blade of raw will power.Maya took notice, and tapped Esparonza's arm with her pointer and middle finger, letting her know that she was willing to help duel in mental battle. She felt as Esparonza linked her mind with hers. As they linked Maya's increased focused will power fused and increased the intensity of the mental blade and defense.
Johnson stopped as he heard the girl's bodies crumble to the ground into an Indian style sitting position. He started to walk over to check on them, yet before he could a glow in storm of silvery-gray power flowed out of them and wrapped around their entire bodies'. His hands flew to his head as an invisible pressure threatened to crush his mind. The entire mental pressure increased to an unbearable level. His own powers kicked in shielding his mind from any mental invasion; he breathed a sigh of relief.
--
I could sense the mental attack upon Esparonza. Running to start a distraction I powered up, but kept a careful check on not going Alpha. I added my own mental strength to the blade I could feel her forming.
I ran down another hallway that was dimly lit. I knew exactly where I was headed. This would serve as both a distraction, and as a way to see more of the Creator's plans.
