after wiping the dry blood off my face with the flannel, I moved on to help el. carefully, I rubbed the dust and dirt off of her soft and gentle skin.

"I was worried about you last night.. y'know?" I spoke whilst still cleaning her up, "I thought the bad men would've taken you or something.. but how'd you make it through the cold night anyway?"

"slept in the woods and ate eggos," she simply replied.

"oh yeah, course you did," I chuckled heartily as I put the damp cloth down, "and you're as good as new!"

el then turned to look at herself in the mirror, she placed a hand to her shaved head and a sad look appeared on her face.

"you don't need it," I spoke, referring to the blonde wig that she once owned.

"still pretty?" she asked as her gaze fell on me.

"beautiful," I smiled whilst a pink blush crept up onto el's cheeks. we then started to lean in closer and closer like to magnets. my stomach was doing backflips as I felt her warm breathe radiate onto my face. but just as our lips were about to meet, dustin came crashing through the door.

"guys!" he announced, "it's lucas, I think he's in trouble!"

my stomach's backflips immediately stopped and instead it sunk. I grabbed el's hand and pulled her along with me into the basement.

"remember how he said he was looking for the gate?" dustin asked in a rush, "..I think he's found it."

dustin then picked up the walkie and let us listen, the sound of lucas indistinctly shouting echoed from the radio.

"what's he saying?" mike questioned.

"I don't know, he's way out of range." dustin answered.

mike held the supercomm up to his ear as he spoke into it, "lucas, if you can hear us slow down. we can't understand you."

"mad hen.." dustin repeated from the walkie, "does that mean anything to you?"

"he said bad men, you dingus!" I groaned at dustin as a lightbulb practically could've appeared above his head in realisation.

"stay here!" mike ordered as he sprinted up the stairs.

I quickly darted over to grab my coat and backpack in a hurry.

"what are you doing?!" a confused dustin asked.

"getting ready to go! I've got a feeling we're about to make a run for it," I explained.

"oh yeah," dustin replied before also grabbing his own coat and bag.

not even a moment later, mike came leaping back down the stairs with his coat and rucksack in hand.

"we need to go!" he demanded as we all shot for the door.

dustin, mike and I lifted up our bikes and ran along the grass with eleven.

"okay, hop on." I told her once we had reached the top of the slight slope. she jumped on without any hesitation and I immediately kicked on the pedals and side-glared at the large group of bad men marching towards us.

the man in the centre of the crowd stared me dead in the eye. it sent a bone-shattering chill through my body as his eyebrows furrowed in anger, he knew who I was. and he wanted me back, he wanted us both back.

"go, go, go, go, go!" dustin called out repeatedly before we all picked up the pace on our bikes as the men sprinted back to their vans.

this was gonna be one hell of a road-chase.

"oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!" dustin cried out in a panic.

"dustin do you copy?" lucas' voice called out in a glitchy manner on the walkie.

"yeah, lucas they're onto us!" dustin spoke back into the speaker.

"where are you?!" lucas replied.

"cornwallis!" dustin answered.

"meet me at elm and cherry!" lucas shouted through the radio.

"copy, elm and cherry!" dustin repeated before switching his walkie off.

"elm and cherry.." I muttered to myself before turning my bike in the direction of the particular street.

"OH SHIT!" I loudly exclaimed once seeing the posse of vans speeding after us.

"this way! come on!" mike yelled which caused us all to take a
short-cut that the large vehicles couldn't take.

"OUT OF THE WAY!" dustin warned as we all rang our bells. the two young girls screeched as we zoomed pass them and back onto the road again.

everyone's bikes skidded to a stop now that lucas had joined us.

"where are they?" lucas asked.

"I don't know, I think we lost them," mike panted in response.

"nope! we didn't," I replied with a sigh after seeing the hoard of vans race down the roads with their roaring engines.

"oh balls!" dustin exclaimed whilst we all began to cycle at a fast pace again, "GO!"

"THE MANIACS ARE GONNA RUN US OVER!" I yelled while looking over my shoulder at the group of vans getting too close for comfort.

"SHIIIIIIIT!!" dustin screamed as all of our eyes were pulled towards the van that hurtling right towards us from in front.

I clenched on even tighter to my handlebars, unsure of what was going to happen next. a weird feeling of adrenaline mixed with fear pulsed through my veins as I felt el also tighten her grip, but on my waist instead of the handlebars.

suddenly, the van's bonnet crushed and the whole vehicle was shot up into the air. it flew right over us as we all star-gazed up at it, completely awestruck. the moment may have been magical but it was also short because not even a second later, the van thudded right into the road behind us with an extremely loud crashing noise. the crashing noise was followed by the screeching sound of tires as the vans were forced to stop by the large obstacle blocking their way.

"holy shit.." I breathed whilst continuing to bike up the hill.

I could feel the white-haired man from before's eyes staring at me. it was almost as if his eyes were burning holes into the back of my head. and it was almost as if he longed for me.. he was desperate.
