cautiously, I opened the door to the band room, not knowing what would be on the other side. but I was immediately met with the sound of multiple instruments playing. the band geeks were so immersed in playing until I spoke up, the music then abruptly stopped.

"um.. do any of you guys know what dungeons and dragons is?.." I awkwardly asked, with about 30 pairs of annoyed eyes on me.

there was an embarrassing silence until one of the teenagers decided to throw a guitar pick at me, "nice going, nerd! you've screwed up our rehearsal!"

"jeez, sorry." I muttered before quickly exiting the room and making my way to my next destination.

I trailed around the drama room slowly, searching for someone who looked as if they'd be a d&d player. until, my eyes fell upon one certain teen, he wore a 'the cure' shirt with baggy jeans. I thought about it for a second before making my mind up and heading over.

"hello," I greeted whilst walking over, the boy looked up with a quizzical expression.

"hey?.." he awkwardly replied, his eyes scanning me from top-to-bottom.

"I was just wondering if you've ever played dungeons and dragons?" I inquired before pursing my lips.

"um, no.." the boy answered before turning back to the group of people he was acting with, "sorry."

"it's okay," I told him before defeatedly dragging myself over to the drama room's double doors.

I anxiously headed to the outdoor bleachers, completely unsure of what to expect. as I grew closer and closer, the smell of weed grew stronger and stronger. I was getting second thoughts about asking someone who might be hanging around here, but I shoved my worries aside and continued to trudge on forward.

"hey." a deep voice suddenly said from behind me, I swung around to find a fairly-large teenager, holding a cigarette. he had his wavy hair up in a long ponytail and he wore golden,
thin-framed glasses. also with a t-shirt that was advertising the rock band, 'rush.' (omg if you guys get this, tell me rn istg.)

"hi, I was just wondering if you know about the game, dungeons and dragons-" I began but the boy held the cigarette out to me.

"wanna puff?" his low voice offered.

"um no, I'm good.." I replied whilst backing away slightly, "I'm just gonna.. go.. if that's okay.." I then turned heel and sprinted off, I didn't wanna get caught smoking at school, especially not today. my parents would cancel my plane trip.

I ran and ran until I bumped into someone, this someone thankfully being mike.

"hey, watch it!" he growled before realising that it was me, "oh, y/n, why are you running so fast for?"

"because someone just offered me a cigarette- and I didn't wanna get caught-" I panted out, trying to catch my breath.

"oh? right.." he said, "no luck then?" I shook my head, no.

"shame, me neither." he sighed before we both walked over to a bench, dustin saw us and made his way over shortly after.

"I hate high school." mike announced once dustin was slumped down on the bench with us. dustin and I grunted in agreement before dustin then spoke up.

"so, screw it." he said, obviously just experiencing a bright idea.

"screw what?" mike asked with creased eyebrows.

"screw high school." dustin announced before leaping up and completely legging it.

"hey! what the?!-" I yelled after him whilst mike and I jumped up from our seats.

"dustin, where are you going?!" mike called out as me and him now bolted after dustin.

"just trust me!" dustin shouted back as we continued to run.

"tell us things!" mike bellowed as we sprinted up the concrete slope that led to the middle school.

dustin, mike and I had managed to bag erica for our d&d game, she was the perfect candidate. she knew how to play, had a high-levelled character and had the attitude to possibly even humble eddie. if that was even possible.

we heroically walked down the hallways, erica with the american flag as a cape, blowing in the wind. she tightly held her folder against her chest, we continued to walk until we reached the room where we played. but in the room we were met with some disappointing news.

"absolutely not." eddie said after taking just one look at erica.

"you asked for a sub, we delivered." dustin replied whilst gesturing to erica.

"this is hellfire club, not babysitting club." eddie seethed.

"I'm eleven, you long-haired freak." erica sassed.

"my, my, the child speaks." eddie grinned teasingly, gaining a few chuckles from the more senior members of the group.

eddie rose from his seat, "so, what's your name, child?" the two then walked towards eachother.

"erica sinclair." she answered smugly.

eddie chuckled deeply, "so, this is sinclair's infamous sister."

"he's sharp." erica rolled her eyes as she turned back to mike, dustin and I. this comment made the senior boys laugh again until eddie shot them a glare and they quickly stopped.

"what's your class and level?" eddie inquired, "level one dwarf?" the older members burst out laughing again.

"my name is lady applejack and I'm a chaotic good half-elf rogue, level 14." erica answered with a slight smirk, "I will sneak behind any monster you through my way and stab them in the back with my poison-soaked kukri, and I'll smile as I watch them die a slow, agonising death." erica raised her left eyebrow, "so, we gonna do this? or we gonna keep chitchatting like this is your mummy's bookclub?"

everyone in the room shared a shocked look as eddie looked down at erica with a piqued interest. a wide smile then spread itself across his face before he held his hand out for erica to shake.

"welcome to hellfire." he grinned and with that, erica slapped her hand into his and they shook.
