chapter 92

-march 27th 1986-

-reader's pov-

eyes glimmering with hope, I gazed through the dirty windows of the van to discover we were approaching my house. the van's horn honked out a little tune whilst the wheels rolled, picking up speed before coming to a very abrupt halt beside the driveway.

mike slammed the door open and we all poured out, my heart skipping a beat as I was met with the people who I hold dear again.

my face cracked into a huge grin, despite everything that's been going on recently, I was so very happy right now.

"ROBIN! OH MY GOD!" I cried out whilst darting over to her, she opened out her arms for me to leap into.

"hey, hey, have a nice trip to cali, eh?" she joked cheerfully whilst wrapping her arms around me and ruffling my very messy hair.

"well, eventful trip." I laughed, pulling from the friendly hug to just smile up at her, "y'know, you kinda saved my life."

robin's expressions suddenly turned all shocked, "wait, what?!"

"if you hadn't set vecna into flames, el wouldn't have had the time to save me from death." I explained, my eyes squinting slightly due to the bright sun.

robin chuckled, "happy to help?"

"yeah, that vecna dude was a total asshole." steve tutted as he made his way over, "you good, n/n?"

"yeah, I'm good." I smiled, "how about you guys?"

robin and steve shared an amused look, "we're coping." steve replied on the behalf of both of them.

"oh, and hey, how's it going with vickie?" I asked, refacing robin.

she looked down disappointedly for a moment, "found out she's got a boyfriend so not too well.. but, um, we're going to the highschool later so wish me luck."

"ah, I know you'll win her over, don't sweat it." I assured cheerfully.

"hey, I think your mum wants you." steve pointed out whilst nodding towards karen.

I spun around only to be met with my mother engulfing me in a
bone-crunching hug.

"y/n, thank god you're okay." she said, still hugging me extremely tightly, "you or mike are never going on vacation again."

"hey, that's not fair!" I laughed and karen just pulled away and shook her head typically with a smile.

"love you mu-" I was halfway through telling my mum I appreciated her but I was interrupted by dustin tackling me into a huge hug.

I stumbled over a little as he wrapped his arms around me, "dustin!" I chuckled, cherishing this heartwarming moment.

"thank god you're okay, we all thought you were gonna be a goner, vecna told nancy his plan." dustin informed me, now holding me a little looser, "and oh my god, you should've seen nancy, she was sobbing her eyes out for you. we all genuinely thought vecna would kill you."

"well, not to worry, I am very much alive." I said proudly and dustin smiled back before heading over to greet mike.

at the mention of nancy, I decided to look for her. but I then quickly found her talking with el and will.

"hey, nance!" I called out whilst waving to my older sister.

she broke her glance with el and will to look over in the direction of where the voice came from. her lips curled up into a wide smile when she saw me, she then immediately sprinted over to me.
