A/N: I just wanted to say a few things before the chapter so no one is confused ! I will not be using honorifics outside of a few anymore since it's a bit difficult to keep up with. Additionally, while i am (sort of) back, most of my writing has changed since then and updates are likely going to be sporadic since I'm not really into bnha much anymore. I'll still keep this up and may update sometimes but for now, this is probably the most I'll do at the moment.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Kacchan! Wait for me!"

The green-haired boy huffed as he ran, barely able to keep up with the child in front of him. Embers of orange flickered from his hand as he grinned violently, eyes no longer holding the familiar warmth he had once become accustomed to.

"You're too slow, shitty Deku!"

Thinking back to it now, it was obvious that the friendship he had grown to treasure so deeply was no longer the same as it once had been. No longer was it just two children who dreamed of becoming heroes saving the world, instead the intense reality of his quirkless nature tearing away that childish dream. The word impossible had been beaten to him, a rampant reminder of his own inability to achieve the same things as everyone else could. He was different and before meeting the hero of his dreams, there was nothing changing that simple fact. Still, he clung to it in hopes that someday he would be able to do what had seemed to be impossible. It remained the one constant in his life, practically taking up all of his undivided attention. To someday become a hero just like All Might, someone who inspired hope in other people and was a light in the darkness.

It paid off in the end. Things had worked out almost perfectly; he sometimes had to wonder if everything had all been a dream. The encounter with All Might had been nothing short of pure luck and the fact he had become the hero's successor of all things was still astonishing (even the hero himself had admitted he had originally been looking to give his quirk to someone else, though, he had claimed that Midoriya had more than proved himself enough when he had brought up the topic). The more he learned about One For All, the more he attempted to improve himself. He still had a hard time grasping the basics of his quirk and could still barely manage to transfer his power into one section of his body. He might have been able to make it so that he was able to use his fingers to fire off One For All but the fact remained that anytime he did, his bones would break. It was not a pretty sight whenever he came into the nurse's office with another injury and the woman would scold him for being reckless once again. But he couldn't find himself properly understanding how to utilize his quirk properly. Despite All Might's help and words of guidance, he still found himself unable to figure out a proper way of using the quirk. It was supposed to be his power now and yet, his mind could still not fathom the fact the power he had been given had such a long history.

The green-haired male frowned slightly as he stared down at the table. Kacchan hadn't believed him when he had told him the first time. Even though their friendship had dwindled for the most part, the boy couldn't find it in himself to hold anything except admiration for the other male. The blond was someone had shared the same dream as himself at one point and worked hard to get to this point. During the tournament, he hadn't looked down on any of his opponents and instead faced them head-on, so similarly to himself. It felt only natural that the person he had grown up with for the majority of his life also know about One For All. Kacchan deserved to know more than anyone else where his power had come from. He hadn't even realized what he had done until he had chased after the other boy and the words had fallen from his mouth. All Might was quick to warn him of such an endeavor, however, cautiously reminding Midoriya of how dangerous it was to know anything relating to the quirk. The green-haired male had felt horrible afterward, knowing he had almost threatened his old friend's safety because of his own actions. It was only a few weeks ago when they had first faced one another.
