"I was lookin' forward to today, but I'm tired as shit," Daniel complained, passing the blunt to Lotti.
"You look tired and ya kid ain't even here yet," Edai said from across Daniel.
"It's like the baby only be moving around at night. Since Analise can't sleep, I be stayin' up with her. We usually sleep during the day, but my mother, Kenzo, and Rae'Lynn had niggas up at nine in the morning."
"I still can't believe you was the first nigga to have a baby," Lee said.
Lee, Edai, Tdot, Bando, Lotti, and Stunna were all standing around outside to smoke. Since the venue of the baby shower was inside, they couldn't particularly smoke inside the venue. That left them to take their smoke breaks outside in the cold. All night, their other friends were either drunk or high off something else, but since five of them were trying to stay clean, smoking was the only available option.
Daniel had the option to drink, but he'd rather not be drunk for the gender reveal. If Daniel got drunk, he'd barely be able to stay awake for the remainder of the party. There was still about an hour left for Analise and Daniel to reveal the gender. They'd gotten past the gifts and game part of the baby shower, leaving the reveal as the final activity before everyone could take it in for the night.
After the party, some of Daniel's friends would be going back to his house to stay the night. That was the benefit of having the big house he had. There was enough room for Kenzo, Lee, Lotti, and Edai to stay over. Daniel even had enough room for his mom to stay, but she insisted on staying in a hotel instead. He knew she didn't want to deal with everyone drunk and high, so he paid for her stay at a hotel instead.
"Dead ass. Daniel don't even like kids," Bando said.
Daniel chuckled. "On God, I don't, but Ima like my kid. That's the exception."
"You ready?" Lee asked.
"Not at all, but it ain't shit I could do from here. Anyway, I know y'all know the gender. So, just tell me if I'm right."
All of them chuckled. It was worth a shot to try and find out beforehand, especially since Analise already knew. Rae'Lynn slipped up on the phone with Analise in the room, so Analise found out the gender a few hours ago. When Daniel asked, she refused to tell him. The gender really only seemed to be a surprise to Daniel and a few of his friends and guests.
