Jakiyah sat Alani on the sink counter before taking her pacifier out of her mouth. Alani let out a loud yawn while Jakiyah grabbed her fresh washcloth from the sink counter. After running the washcloth under warm water, Jakiywh washed Alani's face. When Jakiyah finished washing her face, Alani turned slightly to the side to grab her pink Hello Kitty tooth brush from the tooth brush holder.
Alani extended the tooth brush to Jakiyah, and Jakiywh thanked her. Jakiyah ran the toothbrush under the water, put toothpaste on it, then began to brush Alani's teeth. In the midst of brushing her teeth, Daniel joined both of them in the bathroom.
"Good morning," Daniel said before kissing Alani's head.
Then he turned to Jakiyah and pressed a quick kiss to her lips.
"All done," Alani signed once Jakiyah finished.
"All done," Jakiyah responded with a smile.
"You changed her?" Daniel asked, scooping Alani up in his arms.
"Yeah. She's changed, had her milk, and now her face and teeth are clean. Your mom is already here, so you can bring her down," Jakiyah explained while rinsing Alani's toothbrush.
"Mm, so that's why I smell food?"
"Yup."
"Daddy, eat?"
"Yeah. I'll take you downstairs with abuela for breakfast, so Kiy and I can get ready. Okay?"
"Okay."
Every morning Jakiyah had the same routine with Alani. When Alani woke up, Jakiyah would change her, give her milk, wash her face, brush her teeth, and then they'd have breakfast. Whenever Jakiyah wasn't around, Daniel did the same routine, so they could keep Alani on a schedule. When their usual routine was broken, Alani would get fussy and agitated throughout the day. They could detour from the night routine or naps, and Alani would usually be okay. However, when the morning was different, Alani wasn't happy.
"Bae, you gonna come with us tomorrow?" Daniel asked.
"No. I don't even want to go today, but you insist."
