there is an alternate ending and epilogue where things are slightly different if you weren't too happy about this one. i didn't give you guys exactly what you wanted, as that wasn't realistic. however, i think the other ending and epilogue is more bittersweet than this one <3
Daniel snapped Alani's purple onesie closed before he picked her up and held her in his right arm. With her in his arm, he wrapped up her dirty diaper, then tossed it into the diaper bin beside his bed. Now that she ate and had her diaper changed, it was time for her to go down for the night. Daniel hoped he'd be able to get a shower and some sleep in before he had to be up with her again for another feeding and diaper change.
He walked to her bassinet while rocking her in his arms. Alani's eyes were still wide open and her arms reached out above her head, reaching for Daniel's face. Daniel smiled down at her while he leaned down to kiss the top of her head. Alani continued to babble as Daniel paced around the room with her. The last few nights, Alani only would go to sleep with her pacifier. Tonight, she hadn't been fussy, so Daniel hoped only rocking her would put her to sleep.
After walking around for about five minutes, Alani's eyes would flutter open and shut, indicating her fall in and out of sleep without her pacifier. A wave of accomplishment washed over Daniel. He would rather Alani not use a pacifier because of the difficulty to get her to stop using it. There were also effects pacifiers could have on her teeth, so he'd rather her be without unless she absolutely needed it.
While Daniel walked Alani over to her bassinet to lay her down, the door bell rung. The sudden noise jolted Alani out of her sleep. A pout formed on her lips before she started to cry. Daniel sighed in defeat while reaching into her bassinet for her pacifier.
"You're okay, princess," Daniel consoled.
Daniel wasn't expecting anyone to come over, nor did Bando or Tdot mention having any company over. They were trying to keep many people out of the house, anyway, to keep Alani safe. With a whole bunch of people in and out, the risk of germs getting in the house raised. The last thing needed was for Alani to get sick. With the established agreement of cutting down the amount of company, the sudden ring of the doorbell left Daniel confused.
Instead of dwelling, Daniel put Alani's pacifier into her mouth. For a few seconds she continued to cry until she quieted down and shut her brown eyes. After she closed her eyes, Daniel put her down in her bassinet. He laid her down on top of the blanket he had set up in a diamond shape. With her fast asleep, Daniel was able to swaddle her in the blanket for her nights rest.
