"hi princesa"

"Kenji, it's morning. Stop annoying me."

"It's 12 o'clock; it's far from morning."

"It is for me." I roll my eyes and look around and don't see anything that I want to eat.

"Why aren't you eating?"

"I'm not hungry," I say.

"Come here." I turn around and see Kenji spreading something on the bread.

"What's that"

"Peanut butter and jelly sandwich"

"Never had one before," I tell him, and he looks shocked.

"Don't be so shocked; you sometimes forget I was broke back in Russia," I add.

"You aren't now; eat." He hands me the plate.

I take a bite. "This is the best thing I have ever eaten."

"I know I'm the best cook."

"You just spread it on the bread."

"So." I just roll my eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes at me," Kenji says.

"I can't look you in the eyes."

"Huh why"

"Because I see something beautiful in them," he said, raising one eyebrow. "My reflection." His smile drops.

And I continue to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

"What's happening? "What's happening, y'all?" I hear Theo's voice.

"Nothing much"

"What do you do for fun?" he asks.

"Nothing"

"What, no, like when you were bored?"

"Bro, being alive was the fun part."

"Was there something you did that made you feel alive?"

"Hmmm yes," I pretend to think.

"What was it?"

"Breathing"

Oh, come on."

I hear Dorian opening the door and coming to the kitchen.

"I have news; there's going to be a ball dedicated to you," he says, looking at me.

"Why"

"Well, as you know, you're back, and it's kind of a big thing."

"But why, though?"

"Because you are Azalea DeLuca, the one and only female born in the De Lucas bloodline in the past two hundred years," Kenji informs me.

"Yeah, sure," I say jokingly.

"No, he's serious," Dorian said.

"How is that possible, like there have been no girls in two hundred years?" I question.

"Correct," Owen says.

"We will have two balls, first for everyone to know you're back and second for just all close family members."

"Oh my god, does it mean I need to shop?"

"You don't sound excited," Owen says.

"Because it's tiring."

"You will be fine, and a few of your cousins will be coming tomorrow; maybe you will take them with you."

"Girls, right?" I question.

"Yes, from mom's side."

"Okay"

Hey, I was wondering, do you guys have any kind of picture of mom and dad? I don't know how they look."

"Of course we do. Hold on." Dorian goes to his office.

"You're like a witch," Theo said.

"Why"

"Don't you see, first it was pancakes, then you made him smile more than he had ever smiled in his life, and now you made him run to his office just to show you something?"

"You just don't want to admit that he likes me more than you." I smile proudly, and he rolls his eyes.

"Here," Dorian walks in and gives me a few pictures.

I look at them and see a man who looks exactly like Dorian.

He has dark hair, black eyes or brown, I can't really see, and he's very tall.

And then there's a woman.

"We have the same eyes," I say.

"Yes, mom also has heterochromia."

Other than my eyes, I look exactly like my dad; mom's blonde, and she looks exactly like someone I know...
