Faint noises. Voices. People.

I open my eyes slightly to find unknown faces walking up and down the floor outside the door. Looking outside the window, I realised it was evening and that the people were visiting their members who were admitted in other rooms.

Mom.... hasn't yet..... showed up.....
Is everything fine?.....
Is everything safe at home?

I couldn't help but think about her.......and him....

A few minutes to this, Ross enters through the door.
Relief washes through me seeing a familiar face......a face i was expecting to see.

"You okay?" Ross asks.

I smile to his words and nod in agreement.

"Sorry, was trying to complete the pending assignments.... couldn't get hold of the time...." He rubs the back of his head and smiles tensely.

"You still made it on time" I say..... in a ironical way with a calm voice.

He seems to understand my words as I watch his smile fade away and tension reappearing on his face.
He comes closer and settles himself down on the stool attached to my bed.

We pass a few minutes that way, both of us fidgeting with our own thoughts inside head unable to decide what to say.

" I called Alex.....and ......Riri as well and hinted them.... about....this...." I say with my eyes focused at the left corner on the floor of the room.

"And?"

"They just listened and ....both of them said.....I am being over reactive and that I need to calm down" i said.

I haven't looked at his eyes while speaking and it's been a few minutes now .....he hasn't yet said anything since.

I finally care to look at him and find him lost somewhere.... with his eyes still on my face.

"Ross?"

"Yeah.. sorry" he turns away.
"Something wrong?..."
"No nothing just...."

He looks at me now. I give him a worried questioning look which pretty much depicts what's going on inside my head.

"Can someone be this innocent?.....
Can someone be this much ignorant?"

His words seemed to fly right above my head to somewhere. Innocent? Ignorant?

"You know what Anna?
It's just a repeat sequence of events...more like a triangle series going on..."  he adds.

I was just about to ask him to explain himself when I see mom through the door glass.
She enters the room and smiles at him from the other end. He returns a knowing smile and moves to get up.

"You feel better?" mom asks.
"Yeah...much more"
"That's good coz the doctor said if your regular monitors are good, he will be discharging you tomorrow from the hospital..... though you'll stay at home for a week at least or more and not in your dorm" she says.

I wasn't really in a state to fight her back about my place of stay, so I decided to agree to her decision and nodded in agreement.

"Ross you can always come over anytime you want to visit her but.....I hope you understand if I ask you not to spread anything about this incident or Anna's health condition among her mates" mom blurts out in a much serious tone to Ross.

Ross says nothing except nodding to her words. There's some kind of trustworthy relationship developing between mom and Ross. Though... I haven't tried anything in this ...it's solely on his behaviour and approach to her .....and convincing my mom to be soft or becoming her trustworthy person isn't at all something even medium easy... although hard won't be a proper adjective to define.

Ross gets up and walks over to mom and says something in a low voice which isn't audible from the distance of my bed, i stare at them with a suspicious look as both of them turn to me and smile. Ross then waves see you later to me and walks out and mom comes to plant a kiss on my forehead. This is her gesture to say she'll be leaving now. I know. She gets up and I nod at her in a knowing way.
She smiles and turns and walks out of the door.

The nurse appears with the medicine tray and closes the door behind. I turn to the other side and sigh.

Okay.
