Case 4. Love Murderer: Chapter 10. Haunted House

Zhan Zhao and the others were attracted by this strange and romantic story as they listened attentively. When Zhan Qitian said that Xu Tian had been chasing for 10 years, Zhan Zhao frowned. "That means Zhang Miaomiao was bitten 30 years ago?"

"That's right." Bai Yunwen nodded.

"How did Xu Tian catch that vampire?" Bai Yutang asked.

"His method was pretty good, similar to a psychological pursuit." Bao Sir said. "He was sure that the killer had imagined themselves as a real vampire, so he had the same habits as vampires. Therefore, Xu Tian found out the habits of vampires, controlled the person's next move, and found where he might've been hiding."

"That's indeed the right way." Zhan Zhao nodded and said. "Is that why he stole so much information about vampires?"

"Mmhmm." Bao Sir nodded. "He successfully found the vampire, killed him, and then called the police."

"What happened to him?" Zhan Zhao asked.

"He left." Bai Yunwen said. "He told us the entire process, and then disappeared."

Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang looked at each other, wondering whether or not the theft this time around was related to vampires as well.

"The cabin behind the woods is where he found the vampire." Bao Sir said. "It was a simple wooden house where the forest keeper back then used to live. However, the keeper was killed by the vampire, so it later became his food storeroom."

"Food storeroom?" Bai Chi opened his eyes wide. "What do you mean?"

"He took the food... basically the person to that room." Bai Feng said. "Then he drained all their blood and stored it in a container for consumption for when he had no fresh blood to drink."

"Did he really feed on human blood?" Gong Sun thought it was a little strange. "That's impossible. The way we think would not have let a person live by drinking blood."

"That's why the vampire was actually weak. The only good thing he had was his equipment." Bai Yunwen replied.

"Equipment?" Bai Jintang was curious. "Is it the equipment he used to suck blood?"

"Yep." Bao Sir nodded and took out something from a bag he had with him. It was a cardboard box for storing evidence.

Zhan Zhao took the box, opened the lid, and saw that there was a metal mask inside. The most conspicuous thing on it was the four sharp steel teeth, which were connected to a retainer at the back. It seemed like this mask could be worn on the face.

"Be careful." Zhan Qitian saw Zhan Zhao holding the device and said, "this thing is very fast."

Zhan Zhao looked at the equipment carefully, while Gong Sun leaned over and said, "this was meticulously made."

"It seems that you have to wear it on your face in order for it to work." Bai Yutang grabbed it and put it on his head, with the sharp teeth in front of his mouth and two pieces of metal clasping the side of his face.

"There seems to be a sensor?" Bai Yutang touched the two pieces of metal and asked, "what about the power supply?"

"There is a miniature power supply inside it." Zhan Qitian smiled and said, "it's a terrifying technology. That power supply can last for more than 200 years. It was the most advanced technology at that time."

Everyone was surprised. "That amazing?" They all wondered to themselves.

"Yutang." Bai Yunwen said, "make a biting motion." With that, he grabbed a piece of wood and put it between the four sharp teeth on the mask.
