Some people don't know what they have until it's gone.
But what about the ones who do know?
The ones who never took a damn thing for granted? Who tried their hardest to hold on, yet could only look helplessly...
"TRESSSSSSS!!!!!" My voice ripped through the air, raw with fury and desperation.
Tress's body slumped forward, blood spilling from her chest and mouth as Illumi withdrew his hand, leaving a gaping wound. She fell to the ground, Alluka, beside her, was paralyzed with fear, her eyes wide and brimming with tears.
THUD!
Electricity crackled around me, my Nen flaring in a blinding aura as I charged forward leaving Kalluto behind. In a heartbeat, I was at her side, dropping to my knees, hands shaking as I cradled her limp body.
"Tress..."

Her warmth was gone, replaced by the chilling stillness of death. Blood poured from the gaping wound in her chest, the unmistakable mark of a Zoldyck technique. Illumi's cold, emotionless eyes bore into me, his hand still stained with her blood.
I couldn't breathe, couldn't think, as the reality of what had happened crashed down on me like a tidal wave, dragging me into a dark abyss.
"No. No. No. No," I muttered, my voice cracking. "This can't be happening. Tress, Oi... wake up! You can't... you can't just leave us like this!"
My words were empty, desperate. I shook her gently as if I could rouse her from this eternal sleep, but her body remained cold, unmoving.

There was no response.
Beside us, Alluka stood paralyzed, her eyes wide and brimming with tears. Her hands clutched at the fabric of her dress, her body trembling with fear. I had to protect her, had to save her, but I couldn't even save Tress.
The finality of it seeped into my bones, making me shiver.
I had failed again.
I had failed to save Gon, failed to save Rin, and now, Tress. The weight of my failures bore down on me, each memory a sharp, painful reminder of my inadequacies.
'I failed... Again.'
My eyes, wide and unblinking, stared at Tress. I felt a hollow emptiness consuming me, a silent scream echoing in my mind. I was trapped in this moment, unable to move, unable to breathe. The world around me seemed to blur, and all I could see was her lifeless face, all I could feel was the coldness of her skin against mine.
