Third Person POV

The cold night air bit against their skin as Gon, Rin, and Leorio landed at a safe distance from the Phantom Troupe's hideout. Their breath came in ragged gasps, the adrenaline still pounding through their veins from the desperate escape. The sky was vast above them, a deep, endless abyss, yet Rin could still feel the heavy presence of the Troupe lurking behind them.

She exhaled sharply, steadying herself. They made it out. They survived... Again!

It should have been over.

But then—she noticed the look on Gon's face. The way Leorio stood, tense, his hands clenched into fists.

Something was wrong.

Her heart clenched. "What is it?" she asked. "Why are you guys looking so tense? We made it out alive, right?"

Gon hesitated before saying the words that sent ice through her veins.

"Kurapika... He's still inside."

"...!" Rin's breath hitched. Her eyes widened as the realization crashed into her.

'Kurapika didn't escape with them?'

"What...? Why?" The word barely left her lips.

'He's digging his own grave or what?!'

"Then, we have to go back! We can't leave him behind!" She turned back toward the hideout, her feet already moving.

Leorio's head snapped up at her words, "W-Wait-- Rin--"

But before he could speak, Gon reached out, placing a hand on her shoulder. His touch was firm but gentle, grounding her in place.

"Rin... I know you're worried about him," Gon said softly, his voice steady yet weighted with his own unease. "I'm worried too... But—"

"But what?"

He hesitated, his gaze drifting back toward the fortress they had barely escaped from. The dark structure loomed against the night sky, its presence suffocating even from afar. And yet, Gon remembered. The way Kurapika had stood before them, unwavering. The quiet steel in his eyes, the kind that could not be broken by fear or doubt.

It was the same resolve Gon himself had carried five years ago.

His brows furrowed as he turned away from the hideout. He knew that look, that fire.

'Kurapika wouldn't fall here.'

"He'll return... for sure."

Rin's breath hitched. She could feel her hands trembling at her sides, her chest tightening with the sheer weight of what was left unsaid.

'What if he doesn't return... like how I didn't return? Would you be able to bear that feeling again... Gon?'

"How can you be so certain?" she finally asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Gon turned to her then, offering a small, reassuring smile. His eyes held no hesitation, no flicker of doubt.

"Because I decided to trust his decision."

Rin could only stare. That much faith... 'How could he carry it so effortlessly? How could he simply believe when the odds were stacked against them?'

'Kurapika better be alive the next time I see him. If he doesn't, then I'm gonna kill him!'

The wind howled softly around them, but Gon remained firm, unshaken. And as much as Rin wanted to resist, to demand that they turn back—she could feel the strength of his conviction pulling at her, steadying her heart against the storm of her fears.
