Rin POV

I barely registered what had happened until I felt strong arms holding me up. My body wracked with pain just moments ago was now weightless—suspended effortlessly in Chrollo's grasp. His expression remained unreadable but there was an unsettling calm in his gaze as he looked down at me.

"Chrollo?! I thought you were--" Gon's murmur was cut off.

Without a word, he raised his hand and summoned his book; Bandit Secret. Suddenly, something shifted in the air. From seemingly nowhere, a figure appeared—a young woman with short black hair, glasses, and a blank expression.

'Shizuku?'

My hazy mind barely had time to process before Shizuku knelt beside us, holding up a sentient-looking vacuum. Blinky.

"Absorb it," Chrollo instructed smoothly.

Shizuku tilted her head as if considering his words before pressing the mouth of the vacuum against my body. At first, I felt nothing. Then, all at once, the oppressive weight of the On began to peel away from me and being sucked into the void of Blinky's endless hunger. The darkness that had latched onto me unraveled and vanished leaving behind a strange emptiness—one that was quickly replaced by relief.

I let out a shaky breath, my body no longer burning or trembling. My fingers curled into the fabric of Chrollo's coat, testing my own strength. I felt normal again. No—better than normal.

Gon looked between me and Shizuku, his eyes wide with awe. "That was... amazing..."

My vision steadied and as I looked up, my eyes met Chrollo's. "What... was that?" I asked, still in his arms.

Chrollo gently loosened his grip, letting me stand on my own. "Phantom Marionette," he said. "A new ability of mine."

I stared at him, waiting for more. He didn't leave me hanging.

"It allows me to summon a temporary version of a dead Troupe member. They act according to my will and their power remains intact," he explained, his voice smooth and controlled as if this were nothing extraordinary. "In this case, I used it to summon Shizuku who could remove the On from you."

'Summon a dead Troupe member...? Then, that makes him a one-man Phantom Troupe!' I blinked.

I had known Chrollo was powerful, but this was something else entirely. The implications of such an ability... were terrifying.

I flexed my fingers again, marveling at the absence of pain. The On was gone, completely. I turned back to him, my curiosity outweighing my exhaustion. "And Shizuku was able to absorb the On so easily?"

"Correct," Chrollo nodded. "That is Shizuku's ability. Her vacuum, Blinky can suck up anything that isn't living. Including the On."

I steadied myself, still reeling from the absence of pain, my mind racing with possibilities. If Shizuku could absorb On, then...

"If she can absorb On, does that mean you can absorb the On from Kurapika?" I asked.

The air around us shifted.

Chrollo's expression, so composed moments ago, darkened. His gaze usually cold but indifferent, now held something heavier—something dangerous.

A long silence stretched between us, the weight of my question sinking in. Although I was his sister, I had just asked him to save the person responsible for Uvogin's death.

Gon tensed beside me, sensing the sudden change in Chrollo's demeanor. The way Chrollo's lips pressed into a thin line, the flicker of something unreadable in his dark eyes—I knew that, despite everything, this was a request he wouldn't grant so easily.
