Confession Time

Reader's POV

We were all sitting together in Soul and Maka's apartment. None of us were hurt too badly but the sight of Maka, sitting depressed on the couch, made my heart sink in my chest. "(y/n), what is this all about? I think you're ready to give us an explanation," said Soul, staring at me with his red eyes. 

I sighed before turning to Tsubaki. "Tsubaki, do you know about the Tsukino family?" I asked. "'Tsukino'? You can't possibly mean...Are you talking about the legend of the Yuki Onna?" the black-haired weapon gasped. I nodded. "Sorry. I've been lying to you guys for some time now. I'm not (l/n)(y/n). My real name is Tsukino (y/n)," I said. "No way! (y/n), you're part of the Tsukino family?" exclaimed Tsubaki. I nodded and continued," Yeah. Although my family is rather well-known in Japan because of its legend, most people have forgotten about us as we had to keep a low profile."

I took a deep breath and began to tell them the story of my family. "A long time ago, back in Feudal Japanese times, there lived two sisters. They belonged to the rich Tsukino family. The older one was known to be a beautiful, kind and graceful young woman. The younger sister, on the other hand, was different. She was born with snow-white hair and bright blue eyes. Unlike her sister, she was quiet and withdrawn. People kept away from her because of her unique appearance. 

"However, she was known to be an extremely talented weapon. She was a katana and her sister was her meister. Together, the two made a powerful duo. However, the younger sister was jealous of her older sister. One night, she sneaked into her sister's room and tried to kill her. She was caught before she could finish her off. Her family was ashamed of her and threw her out into the cold winter night. Just as she was about to die from the cold, a lunar eclipse occured, turning the moon red. The younger sister was angry and used her last breath to take her revenge. With her powers, she managed to cause a blizzard that wiped out the whole village. Fortunately, the villagers survived but they never forgot the night that one dead girl wiped out their homes. What terrified them most was the fact that what had just happened to them was not the younger sister's full potential. They called her 'The Yuki Onna.' 

"The legend says that on the blood moon that occurs every 14 years, a member of the Tsukino family can use themselves as a key to unlock the great power of the Yuki Onna. Once they release the Yuki Onna's soul , she would take control of their bodies so that she can use her powers to finish what she had started so many years ago. For years, power-hungry people have captured members of the Tsukino family so that they can use them to unlock the Yuki Onna's full power. We also have the power to lock the Yuki Onna's powers away forever. 

"Fortunately, they have not succeeded so far. That is because most of the time, they are consumed by the Yuki Onna's soul. Many of the descendants of the Tsukino family have died this way. My...family is gone because of it. I survived and managed to escape from Japan with my uncle and cousin but I decided to run away from them when I was eleven. I didn't want dangerous people to come chasing them because of me. I ended up in Death City, where I thought I would be safe. And that's when I met you guys."

I finished my story, raising my head to look at my friends. "I know it sounds like just a legend but-" "Of course we believe you, (y/n)." My eyes widened in surprise when I saw Maka standing, her face looking down at the floor. However, I could still hear the firmness in her voice. "What's happened is not your fault. Kid was right. We weren't going to let you be taken away by those people." she said. She raised her head, and looked at me, determination burning in her eyes. "We're going to get Crona back, (y/n). You can count on that!" she said, smiling.

Author's Note: Sorry for the slow updates. I've been super busy lately. I chose the fan art of Soul just because I liked it and was afraid that if I didn't choose it, I would just end up forgetting it.
