A Christmas Poem

When it's the Christmas season,

People always look for a reason,

To light up houses and trees

While carolers sing to please.

People running about in every store to buy,

While their wallets and credit cards cry.

Christmas is an expensive time of year

With smiling faces and wonderful cheer.

The sky rains white and the weather turns cold.

Elements that make fun, for young and old.

Couples by fires and people sliding down hills.

Singing and laughing with winter chills.

The season is beautiful, the lights are bright.

Snow is falling, oh what a sight.

Christmas day is nearing and the tree is ready,

While I sit by the window, with my teddy.

The day soon comes and the excitement has been built up.

A girl received a dolly and her brother a pup.

Kisses and hugs fly everywhere.

Gifts opened up, with just one tear.

The fire is re-lit as singing commences.

People saying "Merry Christmas" over their fences.

The joy has spread around in many ways.

Even though Christmas is only a phase.

The lights will soon fade and the rosy cheeks too.

Indulge in the Christmas season, before it passes you.
