New Year's Eve Wish

6 1 1

As I sit here all alone, on this New Year's Eve,

I sit in white wonder, crying, while I believe,

That there is still a chance, for you to be with me.

The countdown clock; together, we could see,

But you are far away and I am all alone,

Sitting, waiting, by the dead telephone.

I remember the time that we first kissed,

And how this night, you will be missed.

Sipping champagne and holding each other tight,

Waiting for the twelve to end the year's last night.

As the arm closes in on the twelve, I begin to realize,

That my wish to be with you, was too big a size.

I wipe the tears away and lift my glass high,

Just as I see an angel, flying high into the sky.

Ten seconds remain and I start the countdown with the clock,

Hearing the door open, realizing I forgot to turn the lock.

To my surprise you swiftly glide in, and gently caress my face,

While the arm closes in on the end of the year, we stand by the fireplace.

The strike of the clock is one to be heard, both from near and far.

As we kiss for the transition, a happy couple we truly are.
