And I Wait

Sometimes we say things that we don't mean,

Bitter, untrue, and sometimes unclean.

We even do things that we later regret,

Resulting in silence, that's the punishment we get.

When words go unspoken, the truth not lies,

It's we who suffer, it's the love that dies.

And as much as we wish to have a new start,

We can't forget there's the mending of heart.

Staying up all night just to figure things out,

We'll destroy the sadness and crush the doubt.

But let's be honest, lots of patience is needed,

There are other tasks, which need to be completed.

Each day I wait, I miss you more.

Waiting on you, I deserve to be sore.

But I won't sit idle, I'll continue to write,

I'll work long and hard, well into the night.

In the morning I'll wake, cold and alone,

Waiting on your call, I'll check my phone.

And when I see nothing, I'll try to remember,

It's not Christmas yet, it's the middle of December.
