Chapter 10: Skipping School with him

I was walking up the steps to the school hiding my face from everyone using my sweatshirt hood and a pair of sunglasses. I walked up to my locker and got my books out when Ryder, Lance and Torey walked up.

"Hey Phoe"

I waved weakly and flinched in the pain. They all looked at me and were about to say something when the warning for first period went off. I sighed and we all walked to class, I thought I would get off the hook for wearing my hood but the teacher called me out before she started class.

"Phoenix I need you to take off your hood and glasses before you start arguing just please I don't want to send you to the office"

I sighed and did what she said. Everyone in the room gasped because of my new wounds. After we got home Brendan was mad so he brought it out on me, I got a black eye, a busted lip, a huge scratch across my face that goes all the way to my neck to the top of my shoulder,he dislocated my shoulder that I had to pop back into place and a huge scratch across my stomach with a few bruises in the rib area. She gave me a sorrowful look and I just shrugged, that class period went fast because I didn't listen at all and she didn't call on me. When the bell rang I hurried to put the glasses and hood on. I was walking down the hall when Ryder stopped me

"Hey what happened"

He said putting his hand on my shoulder and I flinched while biting my lip. He moved it off quickly

"Brendan had this huge fit and attacked me"

"What did he do?"

"He slapped, punched, kicked, clawed"

"Baby I am sorry this was all my fault"

"Don't blame yourself it's not the first time he's done it anyway"

"How many times?"

"What?"

"How many times has he abused you"

"To much to count since my parents died"

His eyes turned black but I moved my hand on his cheek and made him look at me. I smiled weakly

"See I am ok"

"You are not every time you move it hurts you I can feel it"

I rolled my eyes and thought of a way to shut him up. I crashed my lips to his and bit his bottom lip softly but pulled away before it got to far.

"Tease"

"How about we ditch the rest of the day and go get ice cream"

"You sure"

"Yeah wont be the first time I skipped"

We stopped at my locker to get my backpack, I was about to swing it on my shoulder but Ryder caught it and carried it himself.

"I could've carried that myself"

"I know but I don't want you to get hurt anymore"

"Fine"

We walked out to his car and headed to the ice cream shop which was Baskin Robins. I ordered my usual Strawberry cheesecake and Ryder ordered cookie dough. We sat at a table by a table and started to get to know each other better. I was in the middle of telling him about the sports I play when I realized two guys a few tables over kept looking over at me.

"Ryder do you see those guys looking over at us do you know them?"

"No and they don't have a scent so their is no way to tell"

Then the door slam over and a guy dressed in black came over to us.
