Father?

You sat in the corner of a park, your daughter was playing with a stuffed bunny on the grass in front of you.

"Mummy, its dark" she said.

"I know sweetie, but we're better out here than in there ok?"

"Mummy?"

"Yes?"

"I'm hungry..."

"I know, so am I. We'll eat tomorrow ok?"

It was hell to see your daughter like this, a scar across her face and bruises on her arms, much like yours.

"Listen honey" you said, picking her up and putting her in your lap.

"Never ever go back there ok? They were bad, bad people. And honey, none of them we're ever your father"

"Ok... where is daddy?"

You took a breath, how do you tell a three year old she doesn't have one, she was created by accident by an abusive maniac who never gave her a second glance.

"We'll find you one soon ok?" You said.

"Ok!"

She was a positive three year old, she never had an education, it's thanks to you she can talk and knows basic skills.

You suddenly heard footsteps, making you jump. You half your daughter close to you and looked around.

"What is it mummy?"

"Shh, it's ok"

You stood up and looked around, it was just a man walking down the path, thank god.

"Oh thank god" you said.

"Mummy, what's happening?"

"It's ok, I just thought it was bad it's fine"

You looked over at the man to see he'd stopped waking and has turned to look at you, a warm smile on his face, he must have a soft spot for children. You smiled back and sat back down against the fence.

"Well at least someone can genuinely smile..."

"I'm sure you have a wonderful genuine smile"

You jumped and saw the same man had magically teleported to you.

"Sorry, you just look really hurt... are you ok?" He asked.

"I'm fine, I'm just worried about my daughter..." you said.

"You know... if this was all abuse, I can get them arrested for you..."

"You can?"

"What detective would I be if I couldn't?"

"Yes! Please help us with this!" You said.

TIME SKIP

"Man arrested for abuse, kidnap and rape, victim and her child rejoice"

You smiled as you watched the news report of the arrest.

"WE DID IT MUMMY!"

"We did it! And is all thanks to L" you said.

Your daughter instantly scrambled up and rushed over to the detective that sat in front of a computer, she jumped on him, wrapping your her  around him.

"THANK YOU FOR HELPING MUMMY!" She exclaimed.

"Justice had to be served" L replied.

You got up and walked over to him, sitting beside him.

"I can't thank you enough L, I'd do anything to replay you" you said.

"No repayment is required (y/n), this is my job"

"Not all detectives take a lady and her daughter in just for a case"

"It was the least I could do"

"Mummy!" 

You both looked down at your daughter who was still hugging L.

"Can L me my dad? Please?" She pleaded.

You and L gave each other a shocked look.

"Honey that-"

"Well I for one wouldn't mind..." L said.

What?

"It's up to your mother really"

You gave L a shocked look.

"Well... I guess stating as a legal guardian would be ok..." you said.

Your daughter would be in very good hands with L. And who knows... maybe the affection you shared for him could lead to something more...
