I sat on the opposite side of the door to Shawn- he didn't know I was there. His voice croaking as he spoke.

"Dad, help. Please. I don't know what to do- I don't know how to fix this." He sobbed. My back hunched as I rested my head in my palms. I can't be weak. "I know-yeah, it is. Yeah- completely my fault."

There was a pause. A moment to hear his heartbreaking even more. I swallowed my pride and rose to my feet. I rested my hand on the door knob and tugged my bottom lip between my teeth. Tears escaped my eyes and landed on the handle.

"But dad, I love her."

I froze. He loves me.

Those three words. They can be the most beautiful thing or the worst. Love can drive you to do crazy things; to act from impulse; to do things you would never usually do- which can have a positive or negative result. It can make you see yourself in a new way- a new you; a better you- or it can tear you to shreds by the constant fight of a one-sided love.

But with Shawn, it was is the good kind of love. He made me do crazy things that is completely out of character, he made me break out of my shell and become the real me. He made me a better version of myself, he grew with me and taught me things only he could teach me. He made me fall in love.

"I do, I really do. And I know, it's a serious phrase but I do. I need to fix this."

I opened the door and he looked up at me. His eyes red, the hem of his shirt dampened with tears from his constant eye wiping and his hair tousled from his long fingers. He rethink hitched and he scrambles to his feet.

"Shawn, shawn. Shawn, are you there? Helloooo... shawn?" The muffled noises of Manny echoed through the speaker of the phone. Shawn shook from his state of shock and bro got the phone to his ear.

"Dad, I have to go. I'll- um- I'll call you back."

He hung up the phone and placed it on the floor. His eyes bored into mine and he reached his fingers out to touch my face. I rested into his touch.

"You love me." I questioned.

"To the moon and back." He stated. "And more than that." He chuckled at his words and dropped his head. I smiled and he trailed his hand down to mine where I intervened our fingers.

"Listen, I'm sorry for those things I said. You know I didn't mean it. It was wrong of me, you did nothing wrong and I'm sorry." He paused. "I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart. I really am."

"It's okay,-"

"No it's not. I wouldn't be surprised if you packed your bags and left. I was an asshole- and don't try and defend me." He said as he pointed a finger at me.

"Oh trust me, I won't defend you. You were an asshole." He smiled and brought our connected hands to his lips before pulling me into his embrace. I rested my hands underneath his shirt and traced patterns on his back. His head rested on my head and his arms were wrapped tightly around my shoulders.

"I love you too."

I wrote this so quick, and it was based off a picture I saw on my Instagram explore page which made me think of Shawn and his dad, so here ya go!
