Penelope's POV
"I'm nervous." Pag-aamin ni Maddox sa akin habang inaayos ko ang buhok ko sa harap ng salamin.
Lumapit ako sa kanya at hinawakan ang pisngi niya. "It'll be okay."
He sighed and I felt his mood lit up. "As long as you're with me."
Maddox called his father today to arrange a dinner with him. I was listening beside him, the phone's speaker was on so I can hear hoe happy his father was when Maddox asked him for a dinner.
Habang nagmamaneho patungo sa bahay ng mga Preston ay ramdam ko na medyo tense si Maddox. I don't know what happened between them when I was gone but I know their relationship is far from being good.
I took his hand and gave him a reassuring smile. Nang makarating kami sa harap ng mansyon nila ay kusang bumukas ang gate. Maddox parked the car in the garage and led me inside.
Pagpasok namin ay si Tita Greta agad ang sumalubonh sa amin ng isang mahigpit na yakap. Hos mangiyak-ngiyak pa ito habang pinagmamasdan kaming dalawa ni Maddox.
"I miss seeing you together." She said with a warm smile.
Mula sa hagdan ay bumaba si Sky at si Xianel. Sky smiled at his cousin, hugged him and tapped his back.
"Finally, you're back." Sambit nito.
"I never left." Sagot ni Maddox.
"Yes you didn't but your heart did." Sky said.
Dumeretsyo kaming dining area kung saan nasa dulo si Mr. Emmanuel at naka-upo sa kanyang wheelchair. Matyagang naghihintay sa pagdating ng anak nito. Nang makita kami ni Maddox ay hindi na nito mapigilang maluha. He was more thinner and older from the last time I've seen him. He looked so strong before but now...
I couldn't help the tears from falling when Maddox hugged his dad which kept apologizing to him.
"I'm sorry, son." He cried.
"You're forgiven dad."
"I never knew this moment will ever come." Said Tita Greta while wiping her tears.
"Sorry dad, masyado akong naging mapride. I was so blinded with anger I forgot about your feelings. Sorry for treating you so coldly for the past five years. And I'm sorry that you're sick because of me. Sorry dahil hinintay ko pang si El ang mag-udyok sa akin para lapitan ka." Umiiyak na humihingi ng tawad si Maddox. Lumapit ako dito at hinawakan ang balikat nito.
"Don't say sorry son. None of this was your fault."
Lumapit naman sa akin si Tita Greta at bumulong. "I think we should give them some privacy."
I nodded but then Emmanuel stopped me.
"Stay Penelope. I have a lot of things to tell you."
I nodded while Tita Greta, Sky and Xianel left the room to give us some privacy.
Huminga ng malalim si Emmanuel bago humarap sa akin. May bahid ng pagsisi ang mga mata nito na tila ba naaawa sa akin.
"I know I've done terrible things to you Penelope and to Maddox. Hindi ko akalaing magagawa ko ang mga bagay na iyon. Ang itaboy at insultuhin ka. Pero pinagsisihan ko na ang lahat." Pagsisimula ni Emmanuel.
I smiled at him. "Hindi naman po ako nagtanim ng galit sa inyo. Leaving Maddox was my decision and that trial made our relationship even stronger."
"Now I can see why my son loves you very much. You're not only beautiful but you have a verg kind heart as well." He added. "Hindi ko alam kung bakit ko pa ito pina-abot ng ganito katagal pero may kailangan kayong malaman."
