Penelope's POV
With my hand on my belly, I thanked Cara before getting off her car for dropping me off. Looking at the towering building in front of me, I read the silver words scribled on it, Preston Corporation.
Hindi ko alam kung gaano kalaki ang kompanya nila Maddox, ang alam ko lang ay nagmamay-ari sila ng mga five star hotels and resorts sa buong Pilipinas. I've never really wanted to meddle with business or anything related to it. Sa kompanya palang ay alam kong sobrang busy na ni Maddox, lalo na ngayon na malapit na ang laro nila. Kaya humahanga talaga ako dahil nabibigyan pa ako nito ng oras.
Isang araw na kaming hindi nagkikita at nag-uusap ni Maddox. I haven't answered any of his calls and maybe he's mad at me for that. I miss him terribly. Pagpasok ko sa loob ng building ay bumati sa akin ang babaeng nasa reception.
"Yes, how may I help you?" Nakangiting tanong nito.
"I'm here to see Maddox Preston." Sagot ko.
"Can I check your gatepass please?"
"I don't have one." Nag-aalangang sagot ko. Right. How can I be so stupid? Of course, strikto sila dito sa kompanya. At malamng hindi sila nagpapapasok ng hindi empleyado maliban nalang kung may gatepass.
"Your name please?" She asked again.
"Penelope Grendel." Sagot ko.
She typed something in her computer and creased her forehead. "I'm sorry but I couldn't find your name. You should set up an appointment with Mr. Preston first before you can meet him."
"Oh, I totally understand." Sagot ko. Kasalanan ko naman talaga dahil nagpunta ako dito nang hindi nag-iisip.
Hindi ko naman pwedeng sabihin na girlfriend ako ni Maddox. I think I should still keep my identity. Hindi ko din pwedeng tawagan si Maddox at baka busy ito sa trabaho. Baka may meeting din ito. Maybe I'll wait for him at home.
Pero sobrang miss na miss ko na talaga siya. Gusto ko na siyang maka-usap at humingi ng tawad sa pag-alis ko. Ayoko nang lumala pa ito. Besides, we are going to have a family. A family he'd aways wanted.
I was rubbing my belly unconsciously when the receptionist grabbed my attention. I didn't realize I was zoning out until she called my name.
"Excuse me, Ms. Grendel."
"Yes?"
"I called his secretary. She said you can come in. Mr. Preston's office is at the top of the building." The receptionist smiled. Wala yata ako sa sarili kanina at hindi ko man lang ito narinig na tumawag.
"Thank you."
Dumeretsyo ako sa elevator at pinindot ang top floor. Excited ako na kinakabahan. Though wala pa naman akong balak na sabihin sa kanya ang tungkol sa pagbubuntis ko, excited akong makita ang ama ng magiging anak ko—namin. Gusto ko ng tamang pagkakataon para sabihin sa kanya na buntis ako. But I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut for too long.
I was biting my nail until the elevator rang and opened. Paglabas ko ay tumambad sa akin si Maddox. He was leaning across the wall, looking so anxious. He's probably waiting for me, expecting for me.
His face lit up when he saw me and a tear escaped my eye. He walked towards me and cupped my face, placing a long kiss on my lips.
"You came back." He said, resting his forehead against mine.
"I never left, Maddox."
"I miss you so much, I was going insane!" He exclaimed, kissing my forehead.
