On July 2, 1937 pilot Amelia Earhart vanished during an attempt to fly across the world.

Now the most accepted version of this story is that she and navigator Feed Noonan went slightly of course while en route to a refueling stop at Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean. This caused them to run out of fuel and crash into the large ocean.

But of course there are skeptics.

This theory goes that the plane did in fact crash but only Feed lost his life. Amelia was saved. People speculate a boat picked her up, maybe the government (for reasons I will get into with another theory) and she lived under a different name while in New Jersey. That name, Irene Bolam. She got married and became a banker and had a happy life.

Many people thought Irene resembled Amelia in many ways, even though she was older. If you take a picture of Amelia and age it up you get a picture that looks similar to Irene Bolam. (See picture below)

Now Irene denied being Amelia and even attempted to sue an author for claiming in a book that Irene was in fact Amelia

It is said that Amelia and Feed actually landed safely on a different island, but perished before they could be rescued.

If this theory is to be true that means they landed on Gardner Island, now known as Nikumaroro. On this island are artifacts said to have belonged to the pilot. This includes an empty jar of freckle cream, which was her favorite, as well as a piece of Plexiglas similar to what was used on her plane.

Let me tell you, there were A LOT of theories involving Japan. This includes the US Government enlisting Amelia to spy on the Japanese (as no one would have thought that was her actual mission) but Japan did in fact find out and killed them on the island they landed on. There is one where the government found out that Japan knew so before they could get Amelia the government got her and made her take on a new identity (Irene Bolam) plus a few more.

But the one I am here to discus is that Japan did in fact capture them but took them to the island of Saipan (which now is actually one of the most beautiful places on Earth but not so much in 1937)

Now some believe they both lived their life out in a "special holding cell" or even free to roam the island. However there is one account that states Amelia was killed when she got there because they thought she was a spy.

The reason people believe Amelia was sent here is because of a picture. In 2017 a photo was discovered that may show both Earhart and Noonan just days have their disappearances on a Japanese ship.

Let's take a closer look,

What do you think happened to Amelia and Fred?

Honestly most theories were about Japan either kidnapping them and/or killing them because they thought they were spies....
