The story goes that Lina and Gaga were friends but Lina was rising to fame faster than Gaga. Gaga, who was just a backup to Lina grew jealous of her friend.
Lina died after falling off of a balcony and was ruled a suicide. But everyone around her didn't believe it. She was happy and dancing all day, and then around lunch she killed herself. Because of this, people don't believe she killed herself but rather someone else threw her off.
Some people believe it was Gaga, who rose quickly to fame right after Lina's death (2 weeks I believe it was), also allegedly stealing her gimmick (the crazy outfits, songs...)
People believe Gaga actually brags in some of her songs and videos that she basically got away with murder.
People believe most of The Fame Monster album was about Lina.

Now some are quick to point out its faults which is the fact she wasn't even in the same city where Lina died.
Lady Gaga was in Los Angeles, getting ready to travel to Ibiza where she filmed Poker Face video on 3rd, October of 2008. After the filming she went as an opening act for 'The New Kids On The Block', she wasn't even in the city when Lina died.
However people who do believe this theory says that she could have hired someone to do it for her, which isn't hard to do actually. Just because you don't physically kill someone doesn't mean you aren't a murderer.
Look at John Kramer (JigSaw) he swore he wasn't a murderer because he wasn't physically killing anyone, but he was a murderer. Same with someone who hires a hit man. If you pay someone to kill someone for you, you are still a murderer.
