Anna

Oh gosh...

I feel so weak.

What is that?

Why – why am I hearing some

beeping sounds?

Wait –

Where exactly am I?

Don't tell me that –

"She's awake!" Cindy's voice rings through the room. I follow the sound of her voice and I found out that she's speaking right in front of an intercom.

A room. Covered with plain white paint.

I look on my left side.

A monitor.

Well, that explains now the beeping sound.

Dextrose is connected to my left arm.

Great.

I'm in a hospital.

Does this mean that they already found out about my secret?

About my disease?

But I'm afraid that even if they found out about it now, I'm still weak to disagree.

I take a deep breath.

Seriously, why do I suddenly feel like a limp kid?

Good thing, no ones here, except, of course, my dear best friend.

"She's awake?" a familiar voice answers through the intercom.

I try to move my head to the far right side of the room.

There I see, the hospital logo plastered on the wall.

"Yes, doctor!"

"I'll be there, just a sec."

San Lucia's Hospital

Come to think of it, back then, we were indeed closer at San Lucia's Hospital than our own city's hospital.

And that could be the reason why I'm here now.

I take a deep breath and exhale.

Phew.

It seems like the card is still playing nice to me.

But I still have to make sure.

"Doctor! Please come in!" Cindy seems to be so hyped at the moment. Well, she's actually hyped all the time. But this one is different.

The doctor enters the room.

"Miss Sparks." She casually greets me.

I am right.

I can freely breathe now.

"Doctor, please tell me what's happening to my Annie..." Cindy dramatically reaches out to my hand and holds it dearly.

"Miss. Cindy, you don't have to worry that much." With her eyeglasses on, she looks at me, giving me a long look.

"Then why is she still not talking? She just woke up and is still not saying anything to me! Doctor, is she really alright?"

"She is fine, don't worry." She's lying. She has to. She needs to.

She's lying for me.

For my sake.

"Oh, Annie! My Annie!" I can't imagine seeing my best friend like this. How much more if I really die and suddenly gone away?

It'll be a devastation to her.
