Anna

I wake up with a peaceful mind.

And gladly, a peaceful heart.

I feel much better now than yesterday.

Yesterday was actually a nightmare.

"Good morning Annie!" Streaks of lights engulf my vision.

"Rise and shine, sleepyhead." I slowly open my eyes and there I see Cindy standing in front of the window.

I'm glad I'm awake now. The nightmare has finally passed.

"Morning..." I mumble. My throat is still a little bit dry because of sleep. But I feel okay.

"Water?" Cindy hands me a glass of water.

"Hmm, getting smart now, aren't we?" I drink the water in just one gulp.

"Ha-ha, I'm always smart Annie. You must've forgotten about that."

"Oh, right." I give her back the now empty glass.

"Doctor Vans will see you soon, by the way."

Hmm, time for the result, I guess.

Time to find out how worse is my case right now.

"Sure."

"I'm glad you're doing alright now, Annie." Leaning closer to me, she touches my face like a mother. My mother.

"Ugh. You're being too dramatic, Cindy." I roll my eyes at her.

"Stop messing around – you really made me worried!" she fires back.

"Easy, don't shout at me."

"Ha-ha, now you're acting up, huh."

"No, I'm not. Ha-ha."

"Glad, you're back, Annie."

"Hey, I didn't go anywhere."

"You sure about that?"

"Um, well..." she makes her famous face expression with her lips pouted.

"After making me crazy for a day, you almost made me go berserk with what happened to you." Now, she's holding my hand.

"Hey."

Then, there it is.

No, there they are.

"I cannot lose you, Annie."

She's crying.

And I bet it's not the only time that she cried ever since yesterday.

"It's just an over fatigue. Don't worry, I'm fine now –"

"Still!" She keeps on sobbing, with her one hand on her eyes and the other hand still holding mine. I touch it,

"Cindy –"

"Annie! You don't understand – you look like you were dying yesterday I-I cant – I really cant, if anything like that would happen to you again –"

"Hush." I reach out to her.

"Come here." Putting my arms around her, she buries her face on my neck.

"Annie... whaaa..."

"Hush." She's now embracing me also.

Then it hit me.

How I missed Cindy. How I really missed my best friend.

"I'm not gonna leave you again." the words come out of my mouth before I knew it.
