this is a pre-relationship fic after ep 4 so like... just a lot of pining and wanting to kiss one another

The storm outside was brutal, thunder booming so loud walls shook, trees swaying in the wind, lightning making the night sky turn light. Pete whimpered quietly, his entire body hidden under his covers as he sat in his closet. He felt embarrassed even if no one was there, feeling like his fear of storms was too childish for him to have. Yet, every time a storm came, Pete would find himself back in his closet.
This fear only started after he got attacked in the rain, body too weak to move. Every thunderclap made him flinch back like he did when Trump kicked him. Every raindrop hitting his window made him remember the rain that pelted his skin before Can found him. He was thankful for Can and Ae helping him that night; without them, he would have probably gotten sick.
Thunder sounded again and Pete gave up his dignity and pride, picking up his phone to call Ae. Ae answered quickly, but the thunder made Pete's window shake and the tall boy let out a sob accidentally.
"Ai'Pete!? Are you okay?!" He heard Ae scramble for something, most likely his shoes before Pete spoke up and stopped him.
"I'm scared..." Pete whimpered, and he listened as Ae cursed quietly.
"Where are you?" Ae spoke softly, almost like he was afraid if he spoke any louder he would upset Pete. It made the rich boy's heart flutter a bit.
"I'm at home." Ae hummed, and Pete heard him take his shoes off. Pete sniffled, biting his lip to muffle the whimper that almost escaped.
"What scared you?"Ae whispered and Pete felt himself grow flustered.
"You're going to laugh at me," he whispered, growing more embarrassed when Ae tsked.
"I would never laugh at you," Ae chided and Pete just sighed, growing the confidence to tell Ae the truth.
"The storm scares me..." Pete admitted and Ae hummed like he knew why. (To be honest, he probably did. Ae knew almost everything about Pete, it was a little scary.)
"Just stay on the phone with me, okay? I won't let anything happen to you." And with that, Pete felt all his tension leave his body. He had this overwhelming desire to hug Ae and truly was a little disappointed that he couldn't. But it was alright, everything was alright with Ae.
