Chapter 9

He sputtered and sat up.
"You son of a-" he started
"God" I muttered
He didn't hear me. That's probably a good thing.
"Are you done" I asked
"For now yes" he said "be carful Blue you'd better watch your back."

I walked into the room quietly. Dick and Barbara still had their hands intertwined and they were both still asleep. I played with water until it was about three in the morning when Dick woke up seeing a black eye and probably a couple cuts he told me to sleep.
I sat down and relaxed for a bit when I noticed my suit. Where the R sat had been cut in half. The bottom Part of it was torn. Robin wasn't here. Percy was.
I slept and surprisingly had no dreams. Apparently the fates were feeling nice.
To me.
It was right before Annabeth and Bruce got back. As it turned out Barbara's spinal cord was damaged. And...
"You'll likely be paralyzed waist down for the rest of your life" the doctor said
That was hard for all of us.
No more Batgirl. What would Annabeth do? What would Barbara do.
She'd wanted to be a superhero since. Forever. And now.
Annabeth and Bruce came back with good news about a week later. The Joker was taken care off. And in turn they revived the bad news. Dick Bruce and I left while Barbara talked to Annabeth.
"Bruce?" I asked
"Yeah Percy?"
"What will Barbara do?"
"That something for her to decide." He said "she can't go back to fight crime how she used to but maybe there is another way she can..."
He trailed off. I frowned thinking.
"Well Percy school starts soon" Dick said
"Yeah in a month" I said
"We need to get you stuff."
"But-" I stopped he probably wanted to get his mind off the fact that his girlfriend got shot and Is now paralyzed. He needed to do something besides worry. So did Annabeth.
She walked out the door looking stunned.
"I-i" she stopped
"C'mon" I said "we're getting Thalia out here to go shopping."
"Shopping for what?"
"School" I rolled my eyes
"But-"
"Annabeth" Barbara rolled out in a wheelchair. "Go. I'll be fine"
"But-"
"Annabeth the best thing you can do for me is go" she said
"Hey" a doctor came around the corner "how'd you even find a wheelchair much less get into it?" He muttered
Barbara winked
"Go I'll be okay" she said
"Fine" Annabeth sighed

About a week later

We picked up Thalia halfway again and we drove into Gotham. I knew Thalia knew something was up. Especially after Annabeth's makeup rubbed off so she could see part of the scar that was now there.
"What happened?" She asked
"It's nothing" Annabeth said
"Who did that?" Thalia asked protectively
"Thalia in not seven I can handle myself" Annabeth suddenly blew up she huffed and walked faster than us.
Thalia went to follow her but Dick grabbed her arm.
"We've been though a lot let her have some time." He said
She looked like she was about to argue but closed her mouth.
We walked in silence for a few seconds before as we were walking by a bank...of course I heard an explosion.
"Dick?" I asked
He was already ushering Thalia away.
"Go"
I pulled my gloves on and hit my fist into my palm. I walked into the bank where Annabeth already was. Two of three guys were knocked out one of them was bleeding from his head badly. She was fighting the other and grabbed his arm and twisted it behind him pushing it up hard. I heard a crack.
She didn't stop and continued attacking him. I caught her arm.
"Hey" I said "Anna-Paladin"
I grabbed her and pulled her away from the man who was on the ground nursing his arm.
"Let's go" I said
I took her up to a rooftop.
"What is going on?" I asked "your smarter than this"
"Leave me alone" she said
"Annabeth life happens just because Barbara is hurt doesn't mean-"
"Its more than that seaweed brain" She said "I have a lot on my mind. Yeah I'm angry but..."
"What did Barbara say?" I asked
"I can't really tell you" she said
"Anna-"
"Exactly the two people we wanted to see" someone said I turned Ra's Al Ghul
