Chapter 14

Beep beep beep
I hit snooze on my alarm. Stupid school. I rolled over and fell onto the floor.
I heard foot steps and Cass ran in. She raised an eyebrow.
"Hey" I said "no worries I'm all good"
I tried to stand but I was tangled in my blanket and I fell again on my face.
I rolled over and sat up.
"I'm still okay" I said
She held out her hand to me. I took it.
"Gotta go to school" I said as I walked towards the door of my room.
"Shirt" Cass called
I looked down.
"That's a good idea." I turned back into my room.

"Hurry up" Bruce said tossing me my bag. "You'll be late"
"Eh" I said
"Brighten up it's your first day of high school" Bruce said
"Yay" I rolled my eyes "bye"
"Don't break anything"
"I don't intend to" I said
I ran out the door to the car where Alfred was waiting for me.
We pulled up to Gotham High. I jumped out and closed the door before Alfred could even open his door.
"Bye Alfie" I said waving
He drove off after hesitating. I walked into the courtyard. No one seemed to notice me. I walked around studying people. I saw a group of three boys look at me one of them, the biggest pointed at me. He lead the other two towards me he had blonde hair and wore a letterman's jacket. The others wore similar jackets. One had brown hair and tan skin the other had red hair and freckles.
"You New?" The leader said
"Yeah is there a problem with that?" I asked
"No. Usually not. I've just heard about you" he said
"From who?" I asked
"None of your business" he said "we just figured we'd...welcome you"
I noticed the other two had moved around to each side of me.
"Do you really want to do that?" Annabeth asked from behind them.
"Oh what you need your girlfriend to defend you?" He asked me
"You need two buddy's to take down a freshman?" She asked
By this time kids had started gathering.
"No" he said "just need them to make sure he doesn't run blondie"
He walked towards her and the other two grabbed me by my arms. He reached out his hand to Annabeth. She grabbed his wrist pulled him forward and judo flipped him over her shoulder. I elbowed one of the guys in his gut and he doubled over. I slammed the other guy over my knee.
"Really seaweed brain?"
"You judo flipped him" I said
"Ugh I've been spending too much time with you" she said
"Causing trouble all ready?" Someone said
They pushed through the crowd. Barbara.
"Okay Percy got into this mess I was helping him" Annabeth said
"C'mon" she said
She lead us to an empty room. She pulled up the brake on her wheelchair.
"Who wants to explain?" She asked
"Hey I was defending myself" I said
"I was defending Percy" Annabeth said
"You both need to try not to stand out." She said
"Why?" I asked
"He was going to touch my hair" Annabeth said
"Okay Annabeth you didn't need to judo flip him." She said
"Yeah that was just a bonus" she mumbled
"And Percy you can't risk giving your identities away" she whispered
"Yes Percy don't risk that" I turned to the door.
I reached for riptide.
"You wouldn't do that to your teacher now would you?" Taila al Ghul asked
"I have and I will again" I growled
The bell rang.
"I guess you have to wait till lunch" she said and she waltzed out the door.
