I felt so bad when Mark said we weren't gonna film anymore for the day. I felt like I was stopping everyone's productivity. Seulki had told the receptionist that she was Mark's girlfriend, and even showed old texts, which was enough to convince the poor woman who now felt terribly responsible for what had happened. Mark wanted me to go to the police. I thought that a simple punch was not illegal but it could apparently be considered as assault and battery. And boy was he right to say I should go to the police, because my left cheek was so painful I wanted to cry.
"It's getting too swollen. We should get you to a hospital." Mark looked at my face and that's when some tears spilled out of my eyes. Some staff members and the rest of GOT7 were surrounding me and I could feel worry radiating from them.
"Let's call your manager to tell him I can't work anymore today." I said and Jaebum was quick to dial the phone number. Only two people would take me to the hospital.
Mark decided to accompany me with another staff member whose name was Seoyeon. GOT7's manager was surprised that Seulki was actually able to convince the people in the lobby that she was Mark's girlfriend.
I sat in the passenger seat in the car and Mark insisted on sitting next to me. He would really gently take my face in his hands to see if it was getting worse but he said the swelling didn't change. I did have a bruise forming though.
"(Y/N), do you know why that woman hit you like that?" Seoyeon asked me and looked at me through the rearview mirror.
"She's my stepsister. We don't get along. She never hit me like that though." I sighed and noticed the hospital starting to appear. Mark pulled up his hood, slipped on his mask and sunglasses.
When we were in the waiting room, Mark left me alone with Seoyeon to get something to drink for the three of us. Seoyeon was in charge of communication so we didn't work together a lot.
"You two seem to get along well." She smiled at me, and I gave a grin back.
"It's a funny story, I met him thanks to my stepsister who wanted to get closer to him. He helped me a lot and we became friends. However me working with him was a total coincidence. I'll graduate in six months, right after my internship. Maybe I'll stay at JYP, if the boss wants me to." I said and we kept on chatting. I learned that she was married and that she had been working with GOT7 since they debuted. She also worked a bit for other bands under JYP Entertainment. That's when I realized that I had never met anyone from another band, and I never bumped into anyone at the JYP building.
Mark came back with water for everyone but I could barely drink as I was called to get checked up. After an x-ray, the doctor finally told me what was wrong.
"Your cheekbone is cracked but thankfully not fractured all the way. It will heal on its own and you will not have any visible consequences. Your face will be back to normal pretty quickly." He said and I sighed in relief. I was scared it would require plastic surgery but fortunately it didn't.
I left the hospital pretty early and Mark insisted I went to the police right away. It didn't take long for me to report Seulki's actions and they didn't need further explanations since my face was a proof of its own and I had a witness with me, the witness being Mark. He was right when he said such acts were considered assault and battery and the police officer who filed my complain assured me they would be on the case quickly. Plus, there was a camera in the lobby, so Seulki had no chance. She didn't hit me by accident and intended to hurt me the moment she raised her hand.
Later that day, when I was back at the apartment with Mark and Jackson, I felt the need to show my father what his precious little girl was really like. Yet I thought he wouldn't care.
"Are you okay?" Jackson sat down next to me and looked at me.
"I took some painkiller so I'm not in pain like earlier. She'll pay for this." I muttered and Jackson grinned.
"That's the spirit!" He said. I wanted her to be humiliated in front of everyone.
"I was asked to tell you to stay home tomorrow. Everyone is very worried." Mark sat down as well and I let out a big breath.
"I don't wanna stop working just because of that. But I wanna do something tomorrow. I feel like I can't do it alone though." I said and grabbed the television remote.
"What do you wanna do?" Mark asked.
"I wanna go home and confront my father. I want to tell him I pressed charges against Seulki and that I'm not gonna drop it. But if she's there tomorrow, she might attack me again. I need someone with me." I answered and turned on the television.
"I can't come, I have things to do tomorrow." Mark groaned.
"I can. I'm free tomorrow, for once." Jackson said and looked at me. I looked back at him.
"Is it alright if you come with me though?" I asked and he nodded.
"Let me be the knight in shining armor instead of Mark for once!" He exclaimed and I chuckled. Mark laughed as well. It seemed like I had quite a few knights.
I didn't sleep that well that night. Was it the pain in my face or the fear of confronting my father? Maybe a mix of both. What I knew was that I was hurting outside and inside, and I really hated that. That blow I took to the cheek would prove that the sweet Seulki everyone adored, was just a plain and simple monstrosity. And I was ready to make her suffer just like she made me suffer, however I would do that by simply being happy.
