oh god this is so terrible sorry oof. the first two were a lot better than this *laughs awkwardly while i hate myself for this whole book since its so b a d*

roman audibly gasped, his mom was still alive? he peeked his head around the corner and saw that his father had his back turned to him so he silently stepped closer. "what do you mean? you said she died after giving birth from-"

"i lied." he said, crossing his arms. "i.. she is still alive and living in this kingdom."

"what?!" remy exclaimed, becoming slightly angry. "she is living here and you didn't care to tell us-"

"i have a valid reason,-"

"i'm sure you do!" remy said sarcastically, "totally. there can be a super valid reason for hiding me and roman from our mother!" remy glanced past his and saw roman, but said nothing about it. "what other lies are you keeping from us?!"

the king sighed and rolled his eyes. "stop being so childish! i had to hide your mother because of who she was!"

"who was she?" remy asked, his tone softening.

"she... she was a freak, to put it simply. she had these powers that weren't normal." the king explained. "i admired her for them, but the world has a different opinion as me."

"what does this have to do with roman."

"well, she had both of you.. obviously." he laughed to try to lighten the mood. "and well, you inherited a lot of my traits, and roman. he inherited a lot of your mother's traits... including her powers."

roman finally spoke up. "what do you mean i have my mother's powers?!" the king turned around.

"i see you're home. you're late, you know?"

"and you lied, you know?" he spat back, crossing his arms. "plus i have a reason to be late."

"well i have a reason for lying-"

"yeah right-!"

"i didn't want you to be hated!" he father shouted. "i didn't want to banish you into the dungeon with your mother!" he ranted angrily. "i would have loved to have your mother out of there! for you both to be yourselves! but i can't, if it got out that you had any abilities at all you'd be out casted, hated by everyone!"

both remy and roman were taken aback. "i-i'm sorry.." roman looked down guiltily. "i should've trusted you.. but can i see her?"

"your mother?" roman nodded. "of course. follow me, remy you can come too."

the three of them began to head towards where their mother was. she wasn't in the dungeons, like the king said rather in a hidden area where she could roam free with very few. roman's mind was racing, what was his power? was his dad lying? "hello, victoria? it's fredrick.." shuffling was heard from the inside and the door creaked open. "i have a surprise, darling."
