t.w. mention of kidnapping, gun violence, mentions of blood.

virgil had been locked in his room all day working on something. it was labor day so logan had off but clearly virgil didn't know this. he tried knocking on virgil's door but his music drowned it out.

logan checked the calendar and saw that their three year anniversary was coming up in a week. he decided that he should go in now and get the ring's order in so its ready in time. he grabbed a pen and paper, writing a quick note for him if he leaves his room.
hey, i went out to do something. i shouldn't be long. love you

it was a few days later and logan was working in his office area, searching the web for articles about certain key words. he was on a team that was working on inventing a better eco friendly car. it would even include a hover option.  logan took a sip of his coffee then clicked on a video on a german website they found early in on their research. "die technologie, um schweben zu ermöglichen, ist ziemlich einfach" (translation: the technology to make hovering possible is quite simple)

"hey logie!" logan flinched at the nickname and paused the video. "whatcha doing?"

logan rolled his eyes and quickly wrote down the translation on the video. "my job. which, you should go do yours. you wouldn't want to get reported now, would you?" logan looked up at patton.

"you're no fun!" patton whined. "and i should let you know i'm on my break right now because i have nothing to do."

logan had connected his earphones to the computer through bluetooth and was currently translating the competitions ideas. "well go find something to do and stop bothering me."

hours passed and patton left logan alone. logan's work day was coming to an end and he began packing everything up. "hey, logan?"

logan groaned and looked up at patton, annoyed. "what do you want now?"

"would you wanna go grab coffee sometime? alone?"

logan held back an eye roll. he didn't want to hurt patton. "i'm sorry, but if your intentions are what i'm assuming, i have a boyfriend." patton frowned at the rejection, "but if you want to be strictly platonic, i wouldn't mind it."

"oh.. okay. um yeah, maybe. uh, have a good night with your boyfriend." and with that patton turned and walked away.

logan woke up in the morning next to virgil. "good morning." he said, sitting up, grabbing for virgil's hand.

"someone's in the house." virgil whispered, fear evident in his voice. "i'm scared." he wimped.

"i'll go check it out, okay?" logan got up and kissed virgil quickly before walking out of the room, not actually expecting someone to be in the house. he had walked around the small house found no one. "virgil, no one is-" he was cut off by a gunshot and a muffled scream. logan darted to the bedroom but only found an open window and blood splattered on the carpet.

logan ran to the window and looked for someone, anyone. he cursed loudly, not being able to see anyone through the messy forest. he felt tears fall down his face as he ran out of the house to look for a car. "virgil!" he screamed, running down the pavement to the road where he saw a green van speed down the street.

logan couldn't believe this, it was his anniversary! he was going to propose! why was this happening? "patton." he whispered to himself, a sudden realization.

patton would have been the only one who would have been provoked to do that. logan ran back inside to call the police but ended up tripping on the carpet.

before he could hit the ground, he shot up in his bed, gasping. he looked around the room and didn't see virgil, so he threw the blankets off of himself and ran out into the kitchen.

virgil was working on breakfast for the two of them when logan came from behind and hugged him tightly. virgil smiled to himself and turned around, pulling logan back in for a hug. as they pulled away again, logan kissed him sweetly, so happy to find out that it was all a dream.

"morning, lo. what has you so affectionate today?" virgil teased, smiling at logan.

"number one, it's our three year anniversary, of course i'm gonna be affectionate. number two, who wouldn't want to be affectionate with you. and number three, i had a very bad dream and i'm just glad that you're here." logan let virgil go back go what he was doing, still hugging him from behind.

virgil nodded, "well, i'm not going anywhere. so you don't need to worry."

"good." logan kissed virgil's neck then let him go, turning to go back to their room to get ready and get the ring.

it didn't take him long to get ready but he was trying to find out a way to propose. logan knew he was going to do it in private but he wasn't sure how he would do it. a part of him wants to be super grand and breathtaking and another part of him wants to be casual about it and do something cute but small.

logan sighed, slipping the ring into his pocket.

this is where the author actually gives up rest in peace.
