"You were talking to Conrad?" I blinked, glancing up to catch my best friends eye.
Blair, my dearest friend was a blonde haired, with stunning hazel eyes. She was the golden girl of the group, one who would never want to do anything to upset anyone.
I shrugged in response, the thought had been on my mind all morning. I did not have the guts to do the thing I had wanted to because of his words. They rang in my head once again, his face appearing in my mind as well.
You would never do something like that now, would you?
Of course I wouldn't I told myself, I had never been a problem child, I would never think of doing anything to drastic, however I wasn't content with the millions of rules that were drummed into my head. This was the life I had been given, and I might as well accept it.
"Am I not good enough for you now," her voice almost sounded as though she might cry, I glanced at the gray sky that was heavy with clouds, appearing as though they might burst at any second.
"Oh darling no you are perfect, I was just, thinking." I stated my voice neutral. She grinned in response, I suppose that was all the affirmation she needed to make her day. She jumped up at once, adjusting her baggy dress on her thin frame.
Her father wasn't one of the high workers in the community, so his family was given the clothing of their title. When it came time to merry, They would only choose someone for her that was of her class.
I was not supposed to associate with her, however I really did not care, I thought the whole class ranking was unnecessary.
My father was the lead of the law enforcement agency, he worked every day, coming home late at night, however on week days I was not allowed to go home, students from the age of 13 to 18 were supposed to stay in boarding houses close to the schools, but they were allowed to go home on the weekends.
"Do you think he has you in mind?" Her question cut right through my brain, what did she mean in mind?
"What are you talking about?" I shot back, toying with the ends of my hair to busy my shaking hands.
I knew exactly what she meant, now that my mind had caught onto her suspicion.
Conrad was part of the elite cancel, he had certain freedoms that the rest of us did not hold. One in particular sent my mind into panic mode.
"Of course not," I hissed back, cutting off anything she was about to say, she went back to work, while I just stood there, watching her. I did not have to do this particular kind of work.
"You better hurry on now, before anyone catches you, and I guess I will see you tonight, in the library."
I nodded, closing the gate behind me, I best go and meet the other girls in the bedchamber, they will wonder where I've been.
I barely got around the corner, before running into a tall frame. My breath hitched, as a pile of things scatter to the floor.
"S sorry," I stutter out, lifting my head to see who I have disturbed. I am met with the most brilliant gray eyes, sitting under a set of long dark eyelashes. I can't ever remember seeing this person before. "Who are you," I am taken aback by my frankness.
He doesn't seam phased, as he scrubs a hand through his hair, diverting his gaze to the pile of things on the floor. "Right now, I'm late."
He gathers his things, and is off in a matter of seconds, leaving me standing there, dumbstruck.
