After I showed the video to the NFL appeals court. I was able to plead my case with more confidence knowing the outcome.
"How would we know this is his first time doing drugs? Sure this time was a different scenario-"
"All his prior drug tests have come back negative" my lawyer defended
"I'm all for drug testing more frequently if that's the issue. I don't care, I was drugged you saw that." I butted in even though I wasn't supposed to. I was so ready for this to be over.
Being in this very courtroom felt like the longest hours of my life.
When the Judge had announced my ruling was reversed and I was able to play again, I was happy as hell.
Nadia was the first person, I called up. I quickly walked out of the courtroom and headed somewhere more quiet to talk.
As I walked out my legal team and other league officials patted my back in congratulations, finally outside I was able to find quiet.
"Hey Baby, how'd it go?" She asked eagerly after picking up the phone in the first ring
"Not so well, I'm still suspended" I sighed playing it off as if I didn't just win the appeal
"Are you serious right now?! They have the fucking video?!" Nadia said raising her voice
By this time, I had a bit of trouble holding in my laugh "yeah they said they'd have no way of knowing if it was my first time doing drugs"
"You've never taken drug tests before though?!" She said frustrated
"Nadia?" I said with a grin on my face
"What?!" She obviously was still upset for me, which I found quite cute.
"I'm kidding," I said laughing "I won the appeal, Babygirl," I said excitedly
"Hunter! You play too damn much!" She yelled into the phone "You almost gave me a heart attack!"
"I know Baby, I know. I'm sorry" I said grinning from ear to ear "get dressed though, we going out to celebrate"
"I can't stand you, you know that?" She said laughing
"Go get dressed baby, in something sexy too. I love you I'll see you in a bit" I said
"Love you too," she said
"Oh and one more thing! Pack some extra clothes" I added
"Okay Hunter," she said giggling before hanging up the phone
I couldn't erase the grin on my face. I would finally be able to play again.
