My head was hurting like hell and my arm was burning. I opened my eyes and found myself in a house instead of the woods. I wasn't familiar with the surroundings or the smell. So I sat myself up and took a look. No I've never been here before. The walls were black like they were on fire and the furniture was damaged. The windows were broken and so was the door.

But that wasn't it. My head was pounding and my sight was blurry like a veil that was right in front of my eyes. I couldn't concentrate on my surroundings.

"Are you okay?"

I turned around quickly only to see a figure standing in the door frame. I couldn't see his face clearly.

"Who are you?" I asked squinting my eyes, trying to see his face more clearly.

"Well I am supposed to ask you who you are since you are in my house" he answered.

"You live here?"

"Yes" he said cold.

I took a step towards the window to get a better view of the outside or anything at all.

"I am Amber. Amber Dawn"

The man was eyeing me from head to toe. And so was I as my sight got better. He was handsome and he definitely knew that. Otherwise he wouldn't give me that look.

"Derek Hale."

I turned around, making eye contact with Derek who apparently was still staring a hole into my body. It was silent for a few seconds but I didn't mind. It felt good, even though I shouldn't feel so. I was left alone in some stranger's house that obviously caught fire.

"So you did not actually answer my question. Are you okay? I found you unconscious in the woods with blood all over you. So I took you here" he said after a while.

"You did? Oh well. Obviously you did. Thank you. And to your knowledge yes I am okay. But... Ehm... I'd like to go home but I don't know where I am."

"It's okay. I can give you a drive, if you want to" he suggested. I nodded.

He leaded the way downstairs towards the door. All I could see was burned furniture and destroyed rooms. He went outside and got into the black Camaro. I stood on the stairs in front of the house. Why did he live in a burned down house but owned a Camaro. This made no sense at all.

"Are you coming?"

He had opened the passenger door from the inside and was calling for me.

"Thank you for driving me home, Derek" I said while I opened the passenger door in front of my house. "Like I said, it's okay."

I gave him one last smile and shut the door. As he drove away I couldn't get his expression out of my mind. In the last twenty minutes he never smiled. Never. He had this grumpy expression. All the time. Well, I didn't care. I wasn't going to see him again. So I made my way inside my house and went straight upstairs to my room but my sister caught me sneaking into my room.

"Where the hell have you been all night? It's 5am! School starts in three hours!"

"I am aware of that, Tess. I've been in the woods. Clearing my mind but I'm fine. Nothing happened, okay?" I told her. She gave me a heart warming smile and patted my back. "I was afraid something happened to you, Amber. Don't do this again. Okay? I can't risk to lose you, neither."

"I'm sorry, okay? It won't happen again, I promise. I just lost track of time" I apologized.

"Lost track of time? Where the hell have you been that you could've lost track of time?" she asked, crossing her arms. I didn't know what to say so the only thing I could so was to give her an awkward smile.
