I've been walking home from Stiles for at least three minutes now. It was past midnight. Stiles and I were having dinner with his dad and Stiles fell asleep while we watched some episodes of How I Met Your Mother. I decided to let him sleep. His dad offered me a ride home but I denied, wishing him a good night. ‚Suck It And See' by Arctic Monkeys was blasting through my headphones, making it impossible for me to hear anything.

I grabbed my water bottle from my backpack but being the clumsy me, I dropped it into one of the bushes next to me. I groaned and snatched it back but the bottle was torn apart. I turned my head from side to side but I didn't see anything. It must have fallen on something sharp. Or maybe... maybe it was the alpha. Maybe it was out here, trying to convince me to join his pack... Maybe to attack me?

My thought was ring. I heard its growling a few feet away.

My eyes widened and I dropped the bottle once again, sprinting off. I could hear the alpha following me.

I turned left, running through some strangers garden but the alpha was still behind me. So I ran to the nearest park, jumping on one of the trees. I held my breath and closed my eyes but I knew that it could still smell me. The wind was blowing through the park. The leafs rustled, drowning my breathing.

Suddenly, my phone began to ring. "Oh no! Not now!" I groaned and fished it out of my pocket. Stiles was calling me. "Not now, Stiles" I whispered and ended the call immediately, hoping that the alpha didn't hear it. No second later something grabbed me by my collar and threw me off the tree. "You're dead."

I got up and saw Derek jumping down the tree. "It was you the whole time?!" I shouted. "What the hell was that?!" I asked, catching my breath.

"I said I was gonna teach you. I didn't say when" he answered and walked away. "You scared the hell out of me!" I muttered and followed him.

"Not yet." he muttered.

"What do you mean not yet?" I asked confused. "This was the beginning" he said.

"Okay, but I was fast right?" I smiled proud. "Not fast enough" Derek answered, making me frown. "But it was still a good idea to hide here, wasn't it?" I asked.

"Till your phone rang."

"Yeah but that way... I mean... Would you just stop!" I shouted, making Derek stop. He turned around.

"What happened the other day, me being shot, it was my fault. I should've ran away like you. I need you to teach me how to control it" I said.

"Look, I am what I am because of birth. You were bitten. Teaching someone who was bitten takes time. I don't even know if I can teach you" Derek replied.

"But you did it once!" I groaned. "What do I have to do?"

"You have to get rid of distractions. You see this?" he asked and snatched my phone out of my hand.

"Oh no! You're not breaking it like you broke Scott's phone" I muttered and snatched it back.

"But that's why I caught you. You want me to teach you? Get rid of distraction" he demanded. "Get rid of Stiles? No" I screamed, getting angry. "You can't force me to ignore him! He and Scott are my only friends."

"You're getting angry? That's your first lesson. You want to learn how to control this, how to shift, you do it through anger like I showed you before. But you can't get angry with Stiles around."

"I can get angry" I spat. "Not angry enough. Remember the last time I taught you? I had to punch you several times before you even got annoyed. Now, stay away from him. At least until after the full moon!"
