Chapter Fourteen

That same day, I had to endure all the stares I was getting by people as I walked down the hallways. I wasn't really getting the stink-eye from girls considering the fact that no one knew for sure if the gossip surrounding Vincent and I being in a relationship were even true. However, I had the slightest feeling once I was introduced to the world as the girlfriend of the famous lead singer of Ever After that many of these girls, most of which I've been going to school with since elementary school, would eventually start sending me dirty looks. After all, I wasn't best friends with every single girl in this high school so they are all bound to give into the gossip of Hollywood eventually. And I suppose, I should be preparing myself for the worst; perhaps angry fanatics coming at me with pitch-forks or something along those lines.

Usually, the school day always seemed to be dragging with each passing hour but for once, it wasn't; II believe it's because of the fact that Jeremy, Erik, and Matt were now here and everything seemed less dull.

On my way to Physics, I saw Erik and group of people laughing as he did some of his crazy tricks with a soccer ball. In the cafeteria during lunch, Matt had put hot sauce in one of his burgers as a dare from Vincent and ended up screaming for water. As for Jeremy, well, I hadn't seen him all day but I wasn't too worried. When the boys were still attending high school two years ago, Jeremy was always the one who preferred to stay out of sight. However, during my last class for the day, which was Biology, Jeremy came walking in as a group of girls squealed in delight.

          "Hi, Jeremy!" They cried.

"Here, you can sit here if you like," some offered as they pushed the guys sitting beside them off of their own seats.

Jeremy softly laugh as he met my eyes. He then smiled as he looked back at all the girls and shook his head. "No, thank you, ladies," he responded in a calm voice. "I'm just going to sit beside Carson."

Almost immediately, their faces dropped as they watched Jeremy walk over to the  empty seat beside me and looked away. They then started to whisper amongst themselves and I accidentally overheard one of them saying, "Why is Carson hanging out with Ever After all of a sudden?" One asked curiously.

A girl with ombre hair popped her gum. "Probably digging for some gold," she whispered. "I read online that Carson still works at that filthy diner--"

I rolled my eyes as I brought my attention to Jeremy; distracting myself from the girls' conversation about my life.  "You do realize that's somebody else's seat, right?" I looked at Jeremy with raised eyebrows.

Jeremy grinned. "Oh, so you want me to move now--"

"Kidding," I responded. "Katie, the girl who sits there, moved away. I've actually been very lonely in this class." I started nudging my friend in the stomach as he laughed out loud.

Jeremy shot me a shy smile. "I really missed out on the high school experience," he stated almost in a sad whisper. "I'm actually kind of regretting it." He looked at me for another moment before breaking away his gaze and looking forward. I could almost see the gloominess in his baby blue eyes as he began to fidget around with the pen in his hands. Through out the entire day, I haven't see him around but I was assuming that Jeremy's first day back at school was really depressing. However, after a few seconds passed by, he tried to change the subject. "But anyways," he continued as he forced a grin on his face while bringing his attention back to me. "Where's the teacher? He's late."
