Ailani's P.O.V

"I've got a feeling that the guys here don't like me."

Jack was laying down on the sofa in our room whilst Katie and I tidied up. This morning we had left it quite messy. And some could say messy was an understatement.

"Well I'm not surprised. You knocked one of the best fighters they have on the floor, what would you expect?" Katie explained, puffing up the pillows on the bed.

Jack groaned in response to Katie's comment. "Thanks for the friendly support, Katie." He said. Katie smiled at him. "Anytime Jack, anytime."

"I wouldn't listen to Katie," I said, shooting her a death glare. "You heard Marcus, the male werewolves are very territorial, they're bound to give you a hard time."

"I don't know," Jack mused. "If the males of the pack don't  accept me, there's a good chance that they won't accept you either."

I stopped what I was doing and thought for a moment. What were we really doing here? What was it that we are trying to achieve? Surely we could just go back home and forget everything that's happened. It wouldn't be that hard.

"I know what you're thinking Ailani, and it's not happening. I can see it in your eyes that you're debating whether or not to go back home. But this Adrian guy is your mate, and we all know it. Maybe he doesn't know it yet, but that's why we're here. We're going to get that man to realise you're his Luna." Jack held a solemn glare as he spoke. There was something like reluctance staining his voice, but I felt the determination go through me. He wanted this to happen as much as I did.

"So we stay?" I asked silently.

Katie nodded her head eagerly, obviously enjoying her time here anyway. "We stay," they both said. And that was my biggest smile of the day.

"Once you get in there, be sure to make yourselves at home."

We were walking down the stairs with Marcus only a few paces ahead of us, about to make our way into what Marcus called the 'feasting area.' Our training gear was still on, and although I had yet to eat, my nerves were threatening to throw me over the edge and vomit.

"None of you are vegetarians, correct?" Marcus asked.

"Nope." Katie answered quickly. "As much as we love animals, we can't not eat chicken..."

Marcus laughed amusingly at Katie's statement. "I agree," he said.

We entered a great room full of pristine chandeliers and marble walls. Tables and chairs were lined up nicely, each with a vase of flowers in the middle of them. The aroma of freshly cooked food invaded my senses, and I breathed in slowly, trying to savour the smell. Many people were already sat down, plates full of food. Others were sat by the bar where they were chatting and drinking, joking around with the bartender who was making them cocktails.

"I wasn't that hungry before, but now I'm starving." Jack groaned as Marcus led us to a table in the middle of the room. I was thankful that people were too engrossed in their conversations and food that they didn't notice us come in.

"Don't be fooled by the environment," Marcus said as we sat down. "This isn't a restaurant where you make an order. Think of it as a buffet." He gestured to an area that we hadn't seen when we came in. Trays full of food were on display, illuminated by a golden light that kept everything warm. My mouth drooled at the sight of all the desserts - bowls of ice cream in more colours than I could make out, a collection of pies, jelly, sweets, more jelly.

"You can go up and get food whenever you're ready," Marcus said. "I'll leave you guys to it. But word of advice, a werewolf can eat twice as much as a human, and still fight three times as good as a soldier. You are not werewolves, so, I'd watch what you eat."

"Aww great!" Katie moaned.

"Ailani, come up and get seconds with me." Katie said, finishing the last of her drink. "I didn't put enough on my plate."

I shook my head with a mouthful of food. "I'm nowhere near finished."

"Well hurry up, I don't wanna get food on my own."

When she said that, a bunch of people stood up and left the room. Others started to get their things together, piling their plates on top of each other.

"Where's everyone going?" Katie said.

The girl with the short hair that basically beat up Jack turned around and chuckled slightly. "Break's up, everyone's going back to the training ground."

"So I don't have time for more ice cream?" Katie whined.

"Nope, if I were you I'd hurry up. The Alpha doesn't like it when we're late." She took off in a slight jog, leaving only Jack, Katie and I in the feasting room.

Jack looked at me and Katie with daring eyes.

"Last one to the training ground has to sleep in my sweaty training gear." And with that we all took off in a split second, pushing each other out of the way as we left. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the bartender laughing at us.
