Adrian's P.O.V

"It's almost as if the Mating Call has already started, your pack is picking fights with nearly everyone they cross paths with."

We were at Lake Limpiar, where a massive crowd of werewolves gathered, some fighting, others arguing. I watched as large splashes violently sprayed those on land, frowning as I saw girls and boys grabbing each other and diving into the lake face first.

"This just looks like a friendly battle between packs," Ivan said, shrugging his shoulders. I couldn't help but notice the slight smirk that formed on his face as he watched members of his pack throwing hard punches at mine.

"That's where you are wrong," Marcus stated, face as grim as death. "Alpha Adrian, you're not going to like this. We must hurry."

"As we turned the corner, heading into the woods on the left side of the lake, I gulped in horror as I saw flesh blood puddles sinking into the ground. I pushed passed Marcus who was leading us, and ran to find where the blood was coming from.

"We're too late." Marcus breathed in terror.

When I saw the dismembered body hanging from one of our ancient trees, I lost it. My eyes saw red, and in the split of a second I grabbed the first werewolf I could see from Ivan's pack, and snapped his neck as if it were a ruler.

Ivan was on me moments later. "How dare you murder one of mine!" He hissed, fangs bared in anger.

"Do you not see the dead body of my own hanging from the tree!" I screamed, aiming for his neck.

Christopher and two of my best soldiers came running towards us, pulling Ivan off of me and pinning him up against the tree. "You fail to realise that this is my territory," I yelled.

"Lucas!" Ivan called out to one of the men standing by the dead body I had killed moments ago. "What is the meaning of this?"

"They've been harbouring a human, Alpha."

My blood went cold and my heart beat stopped. Ivan shot his glare towards me with confusion etched on his face. A crowd had gathered around us now, all from different packs, mostly mine.

"Adrian, is this true?" He asked, voice like ice.

Before I could reply the young man spoke again. "We smelt the blood of a human when we entered the pack house. A girl."

Murmurs from behind me filled the air. I turned to Marcus and Christopher, but they had their heads bowed down in shame.

"Alpha Adrian reply to me this seco-!"

"Yes." Gasps erupted in the woods. "It is true."

Ivan looked at me with shock and hatred. He pushed Marcus and Christopher off of him, walking towards me with red eyes. "You come to me with rules and instructions, and yet you have broken the biggest rule of all. An Alpha – giving hospitality to humans – that is treason!" He spat the truth like venom.

"I did not know they were humans."

"They... So it is more than one? Do you know what the consequences are for this type of cr-."

"I did not know they were humans." I repeated. "I banished them as soon as I found out."

Ivan scoffed. "Banished them? So, despite the fact that humans are our enemy, you show them kindness and ask them to leave? You are supposed to kill them!"

There was nothing I could say to justify my actions. I should have killed them, but my wolf was howling at the very thought... The death of Jack and Katie, I wouldn't have cared. But Ailani, something inside me didn't like it.
