Jack's P.O.V

"What's your friend still doing in there?" Marcus remarked, eyeing Jack weirdly. "Don't you think it's a bit weird she's chilling with two corpses?"

I shook my head. "I told her to come out, she doesn't like listening to orders."

"You aren't in any position to order her," Katie said. "She's your Luna."

I rolled my eyes and walked back into the room, fingers pinching my nose to stop the stench from making me sick.

When I saw Ailani laying on the floor, eyes closed and mouth ajar, I didn't care at all about the smell. "Marcus, Ailani isn't waking up!"

Marcus came running into the room as soon as he heard me shouting. "What do you mean she isn't waking-." When he saw me on the bathroom floor crouched over her, he came rushing to my side. "Jack, go and get Adrian."

"I'm not leaving her si-."

"Go and get Adrian NOW."

Catalina's P.O.V

"Right, let me see the letter." Solomon pushed past me, phone in hand and began looking at the book that was laid out on the table.

"Please tell me that's not google translate?" I sighed, snatching his phone from his grip. "You can't use google translate you idiot."

"Why not?" Both Adrian and Solomon questioned me; their eyebrows raised in confusion.

"Are you being serious right now?" I said shaking my head at the two in disbelief. They didn't answer me.

"Google translate gets all the tenses wrong, it's not 100% accurate."

Solomon scoffed at my small fit of rage and spun back around to look at the book. He took his phone from my hand and began scanning the pages again.

"Solomon you type so fucking slow, give me that." I said; annoyed at his granny-like pace.

"And you speak too fucking much. Now back off and let Google do its magic."

Adrian and I waited and watched while Solomon typed the French words from the Book into the translate box. He stepped back, eyes scanning the English with a fervent need to understand.

"Read it, brother." Adrian demanded, looking over his shoulders.

"Dearest beloved, a war is coming. Our enemies await an opportunity to finally revolt against us. With you gone, I don't know how long I can cope. Messengers are coming from distant nations, warning that if we do not surrender - our pack is no longer entitled to protection..."

"What war is she speaking of?" Solomon stopped reading to ask a question, face as puzzled as mine.

"The Battle of Aquatine." Adrian replied.

"But that battle was between humans and werewolves, it wasn't a civil war."

"Yes that's true. What if the enemies she is speaking of are on both sides." Adrian mused.

"That makes sense," I agreed. "The werewolves wouldn't have liked a human Luna, and the humans wouldn't have liked a human werewolf."

"I would imagine that the idea of having a human luna, is to bring the species together. To establish peace." Solomon said, his eyes glazed over.

Adrian huffed and stood a step closer to the Book. "Humans have always been about power. Whether the Luna was human or not, they still would have wanted us dead."

I shook my head. Too many thoughts were running through my mind, I could hardly think straight. "Wait, Solomon - can you read more?"

Solomon turned back towards the Book and began typing....... Very fucking slow typing. Like typing with one finger.....

"It's not translating anymore," Solomon said, showing me his phone.

"Give me that," I hissed, snatching it once again and walking towards the Book. "You're probably just not doing something right."

I started typing in the next paragraph, careful to use all the accents on the letters so that we got a perfect translation. But nothing was being translated.

"What's the fucking matter with this?" I started shaking Solomon's phone, typing more words into the box, only to see nothing come out on the other side. "Your phone is obviously broken," I took my own phone out of my back pocket and tried again.

"Still no luck?" Adrian asked, he sounded desperate.

"But that doesn't make sense, it was working two minutes ago." Solomon said, eyeing his phone like it was some foreign object he had never seen before.

"We need to find somebo-..."

"ADRIAN, SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH AILANI!"

Jack looked like he had been running all over the pack house looking for us, his face was red with exhaustion; and sweat beads were falling from his face.

"What do you mean something's wrong?" Adrian was already out of the door, running down the hallway towards the stairs. We followed suit.

"I don't know. She- she was in the bathroom-."

"In the bathroom with the corpses?" Adrian interrupted.

"Yeah, I told her to come out but she wouldn't listen to me,  and then the next thing I know she's lying on the floor barely breathing."

"Fuck." Adrian growled  and his eyes dilated as he sped down the stairs In supernatural mode. The sound of his claws could be heard as he held on to the rails and jumped down the spiral staircase to make things faster.

"Adrian be careful," I mind-linked him. He did irrational things when he was in wolf mode.

"What if I've lost my mate?" I could hear his wolf whimpering the closer he got the room. "What if I've lost her already?"

*****************

"Where is she?" Adrian barged in the door before anyone could even answer his question. Marcus was leaning over her body on the bathroom floor, one palm on her forehead, two fingers pressed on her neck.

"Move." The growl that came from Adrian was one that I've never heard before, his wolf was possessive; and didn't like Marcus touching his mate one bit. Marcus didn't move quick enough, before we could do anything, Adrian had picked Marcus up by the throat, throwing him on the blood stained bed.

"Why was nobody watching her?" he said in anger, pulling Ailani's form onto his lap. I could feel the desperation and worry radiating from his wolf.

"She's still breathing, Alpha." Marcus had recovered from the hit he took from Adrian. "And her temperature is warm. She's not dying."

"That's not the point," Adrian sighed. I watched his shoulders relax, though his pissed off tone remained the same. "She was in danger, and I wasn't there."

"Alpha." Marcus said calmly.

"Enough excuses Marcus, I want to be alone with my mate."

"But Alpha-."

"Leave."

When Marcus and I stood still Adrian started getting annoyed.

"Adrian," I breathed quietly, not quite sure what I was seeing. "Behind you."

Adrian turned around, quicker than I would have expected. He pulled Ailani's form up in his arms protectively, and eyed the two girls on the floor.

"Alpha," one of them said.
