Sara's POV

"How many are there?", my voice broke at all the newspapers laid out on the table. You couldn't see the glass of the table at all.

Headless. Countless of headlines. Pictures of us, pictures of me. Michael's name in all the articles, mine not yet mentioned.

Marie patted my hand, clearly tired. It was well after ten in the evening and it took a toll on both on them to say up earlier than usually. I felt bad. I felt so, so bad.

That Eleanor still loved Michael.

That they had to stay up this late because of us.

That this was happening.

That this was all happening, because Noah had lied about everything; from his identity to his feelings.

Had I known who he truly was, had I known that Michael awaited me later in my life, I would have dropped everything, and I would run into his arms.

I wouldn't have hesitated when he flirted with me. I wouldn't have to fight for my divorce and feel bad for falling in love with my boss.

I would have talked to Eleanor much sooner, so this wouldn't have happened.

I'm so, so dumb ... this was happening all because of me ...

"Twenty or so", Gerard mumbled, bringing me back to the here and now. "We tried our best to get all the issues", Gerard said to Michael, who only nodded. Michael had his arms crossed, his brows furrowed and carried a worried look.

"She was quite ... hard at work", Michael commented. "What is the main claim?"

"Money", I whispered as I read through the headlines.

Sara Bašić - Out for his money and his name.

Dating another millionaire.

Divorced because Michael had more money.

Eleanor left in shambles – how could Michael do this to her?

Is Michael Beaumont aware of her true intensions?

"I wonder how on earth her father let her pass with this", Michael shook his head. I felt as if the ground underneath my feet had been torn away. "It has Eleanor written all over it. Even as we divorced, she tried to make me look like the bad guy." "It's typical of her to do something like that?", I asked, analysing a picture of myself. I wonder where they had gotten it from. "The media will do anything for money, she knows how they work and uses them to her advantage."

"She knows how this works, huh", I mumbled. "I wonder where she got those pictures of me from? I don't have these on my social media ..."

Michael shook his head. "Let's not wrack our heads over this. I'll get my lawyer involved. I'll issue an interview to tell my opinion to the people." Marie glanced at him, then at me. I knew what she would say. "She should do the same. You should do it together."

We exchanged a look. My vision got blurry. Michael took my hand. "Only if you want to, but Marie is right. It would quiet them if we appeared together." "You think so?", I felt defeated. "Yes. Once they see how this all makes you feel, they'll stop this nonsense. It's clear that this hurts you more than it hurts me."

Michael brushed over the corners of my eyes. "Please don't cry. She's trying to separate us with this. Eleanor always tries to destroy everything." "But?" "She fails", Michael stated firmly. "Always."

"That she does", Gerard agreed. "She tried everything to get Michael back, but she never won."

We grew quiet. Michael drew me into a hug. "Let's just go to bed and sleep over this. Tomorrow we'll see what we should do, once our heads are all clear." We agreed with him. "Marie, please leave the magazines here. I'll take them along tomorrow to work." "You'll have Lucas come to work?" "Lucas White?", I asked. Michael nodded. "He's the best and got me out of every situation so far. I'm sure he'll have an idea how to proceed with this nonsense." Michael flipped one paper annoyed.
