Lena was pulled out of a shadow, suddenly having the ability to live. She didn't know where she was, what she was. All she knew was that she was cold and she could feel, could see. It was so beautiful.
She crawled, not knowing how to walk on legs yet. She followed the stars up above with her eyes and traced lines in the dirt with her fingers. She felt free.
And then Magica rose from her shadow -a shadow having a shadow? The irony!- and yelled at her for crawling, for acting like a baby.
She learned quickly not to upset her mother.
