The Four Confessions will (hopefully) be out this week. I don't know what day or what hour, but one day this week it will be out, so look for it! And I know this chapter is out early (regular updating will be back next week), but I'm getting excited for what's to come.
The wind whipped at their faces as their feet hit the ground repeatedly. Both of their breaths were visible in the fresh air, but the clouds were flung behind them as they ran. They made their pathway against the terrain. The rocks were supports that could boost them into the air while the ice could make them faster inadequately ridden.
Meg ran up a hill and flew 20 meters in front of Frank. His eyes became wide behind his mask as he growled in annoyance. She turned her head and stuck out her tongue, making him scowl at her cockiness. He threw his hands up in the air before shoving them back into his pockets, where he gripped his hunting knife. "Really? Fucking balanced landing!"
Meg started to giggle as she raised her middle finger to were Frank could see it. He growled, making her laugh harder than before. "Suck it, Frank! You'll never catch me with the build I've got on."
Frank sighed as he watched Meg run ahead of him. Her double braids are bouncing against her body as her feet moved against the ground. His hand started to grip at the knife again, a smirk crossing his face. "You're wrong."
A scoff escaped through her lips as her head turned back. Her eyebrows furrowed as confusion and resentment filled her sockets. "How?" A sort of cockiness represented her tone as she watched Frank pull out his knife and catch up to her in a matter of seconds.
Meg's mouth gaped open as Frank placed himself right beside her; he even took the liberty of shooting his arm out in front of her to make sure she stays a few centimeters behind. A smile found its way to his face as he watched her eyes blink in disbelief. "How what sweetcheeks, I can run for days how about you?"
Her face flushed with light pink as she looked down at the ground that was passing by fast. She took a deep breath and tried with all her might to pass the male next to her. "This isn't fair! The Entity gave you crazy running powers. I don't have anything!"
Frank laughed, making Meg shut up; it was the first time she ever heard him emit that sound. A weird sensation fluttered in her heart as he continued to lead. A makeshift finish line was drawn in the snow and was coming up fast due to the speeds the two were going at.
Frank was in the lead by just a few inches; Meg knew she could get in front of him if she just sped up just a little bit, but she was barely keeping up with him already. He let out a small laugh as he pulled out his knife once again, it was strung up in the air by his calloused hands as his feet took great leaps through the light powdering of snow.
He crossed the line, scraping his foot against the fake strings. Meg sighed in defeat as she came in just a few milliseconds behind. They both were breathing deep against the chilling air, a slight pain formed in both of their bodies, but smiles painted their faces.
Meg wiped multiple beads of sweat off of her forehead that was once coming close to her eyes. She let out a small giggle as the fresh air helped the heat that escaped from her skin. "That was fun! We should do that again, even though you cheated."
Frank cracked his knuckles as his body ached at the thought of an ice-cold beer. "Yeah, we should. But, I'm still gonna win next time."
She scoffed, letting her eyes roll as she made her way away from the 'track' they just ran on. "No? You're not. This time was just luck."
Frank followed her closely, watching Meg's hand sway in repetition. He sighed and laid his arm across her shoulders. "That's what you said last time."
They made their way to the exit gate and said their goodbyes. A glimmer of hope nestled in their chests for a soon rematch, one that would cater to their apparent crushes.
