Adam's Pokémon were given to him by his brother Marshall after he passed away from his injuries associated with the car crash. Marshall had a team of five, his fifth Pokémon being his starter Pokémon Dewott, who unfortunately died as well from the injuries. Despite Adam being a very inexperienced trainer with no experience, with his powerful team inherited from his brother he does win a lot of his battles. Adam's charmander along with Leafy are his only original Pokémon, Adam had it learn iron tail and dig to give it an advantage against rock and ground types.
