I like my matts! Naturally, my fingers went combing through my (H/C) hair. A large, red vehicle started to come from the left side of my sight. Is that.. Is that a firetruck? In front of me was a vehicle that every kindergarten child played with during class or on break.

When I was in middle school, they let us play with the hose of an actual firetruck. That was a good day. The thing was bigger than I remember! The driver's seat was taken up by Warren, of course, and the passenger was Charlie.

Warren had a clean white smile vibrating through the tinted windows while Charlie feared for his life through those sparking blue orbs. Once the two were parked in front of our original vehicle, they dismissed themselves from the front seat.

We greeted them with content smiles.

"Doc, thanks. Thank yo--." An unfamiliar voice cut himself off with a grunt of pain.

I looked over and saw him clutch his wrapped up head, trying to easy the rumbling plain.

"Do you have anything for the pain?" The woman's eyes fluttered with worry and sorrow for her husband.

Lovely.

"Oh, I-I am so sorry. I wish I did." Doc lied to the people.

Stingy was Steven 'Doc' Beck; he doesn't stutter unless he's telling a lie or trying to weasel out of something he had done.

After a minute of studying the couple in front of him, Doc sighed to himself, "Oh, hell. Here, take it easy on those; that's the good stuff."

Doc dug around in his pockets for two small bottles of morphine. Hesitantly, he handed it over.

"Are you folks gonna be alright?" Warren asked wearily but gave them a serious look.

"Rick's got family nearby. We're gonna keep looking for them, but thanks. Thanks for everything." The lady smiled, holding the pain-relievers close to her beating chest.

After saying our farewells to the strangers that we will most likely never see again, we watched them leave from in front of us before loading up.

"You gonna be good here? By yourself?" Mack broke my concentration from the two leaders.

I looked down, reading his eyes like they were my favorite book. He was worried; he wanted me to ride on the firetruck with him and Addy.

"I'm not alone, you weirdo. Or, do you want to ride the firetruck with them?"

I turned my head to look at the only person in the bedding. He was too busy watching Cassandra walk around. Hm. Snapping back into reality that she barely pays him any attention, he shook his head 'no'.

"Okay.." Mack was hesitant to leave me, "Be safe."

Mack cupped my thin cheeks in both of his palms, pulling me down to kiss my forehead. While he jogged off to meet his own lover, I sat down against the window of the truck.

"Thank you for, uh, what you did for me in the car." I mumbled, not liking how my cheeks were starting to feel like red radiation.

Why are they doing this? I pulled my knees to my chest, trying to hide the deep red blush by stuffing my cheeks in the small space. 10K sat beside me, his legs sprawled out against the black metal.

Nothing came from his thin lips as he looked out in the building-filled scenery. The boy acts like he took a silent oath when it comes to speaking.

"You're so quiet, but yet, so willing to do things for this group. I just.. I just wanted you to, you know, thank you since it's the right thing to do. You probably don't care and probably already forgot, but I mean, it's the thought that counts, right?" I rambled out, not knowing when to stop myself from speaking.

God, why am I like this? Why do I speak so much when he's around?

"Be quiet." 10K muttered, not bothering to look me in the eyes when saying this.

My (E/C) orbs did circles, leaning my head back against the dusty glass. I'm surprise no rocks fell and crashed on top of the windows. 10K's still a Douche Hero. If that makes sense. In my head, I still found his warmth comforting.

The way his chest would rise and fall back down, silently, was another comforting trait he mindlessly carried around. His words were anything but soothing, but I found myself wanting to believe I could do this; I could live in the apocalypse and stay alive.

Without being scared all the time.

"It's okay to panic but not when it's about to end your life." 10K broke the silence he forced upon us while the truck turned on.

I inhaled the words he spoke, releasing them back into the world.
