"Or you could just walk up and say 'hello', like civilized people."

"As if you know what civilized is." I scoffed back at the intruder of the conversation, knowing he heard the insult that slipped passed my lips quicker than I had anticipated.

Warren whipped around, taking a couple steps towards the man, leaving the small circle we had formed. Vasquez moved to get behind her, staying close enough to protect her if it came down to it.

I noticed the short, broad man that stood behind Murphy was also holding a vape in his right hand. Behind the two men was the same guard from the gate, who had ruffled up Doc's feathers pretty good.

He stayed behind his bosses like a good little minion would do, holding the deadly automatic in his hands like he was excited to put us down if it was ordered. Prick

Finally, Cassandra showed half of her body from behind Murphy, glaring at every single of member of her once friend group.

"You know these folks?" The short scientist-wannabe asked, his eyes narrowing as if we were lower than him.

At least we're not pretending to be someone we're not. Who even is this guy?

"Oh, we've covered a bit of ground together."

"Yes, we have." Doc started to get on the right side of Warren while I took a step to her left, "And, dude, seriously, I'm getting tired of chasing your bony ass all over the apocalypse."

We're all getting fed up of watching the people we love fall to their knees from the zombies that Murphy could be controlling. But what would he rather do? Run from us, cause chaos to other's worlds, and be an asshole.

"What are we messing around for?"

Vasquez shoved between me and Warren and was heading straight for Murphy's throat--thankfully Vasquez wouldn't actually be taking Murphy's life. I knew by the time he'd reach into Cassandra's grabbing distance, he'd be deader than dead.

"This man is our prisoner." He hissed, halfway to the four.

Quickly, I moved to stand in front of the better filled-in human. I pressed my forearm against his chest while my right hand fell against his well defined stomach.

The position reminded me of a police shield, fighting off a brick wall. Not helping but still pressed against something.

My fingertips dug into his stomach, trying to catch his attention from the death he was going to face. Even with all my weight against him, I could still feel my feet sliding with the pressure he was applying back to me.

"We're taking him to California."

He was determined to get his hands on Murphy, but Cassandra didn't have anything to live for anymore. All she knew was to do what Murphy ordered, kill whoever he wanted dead and protect her master.

"Stop it!" I shouted, finally getting him to stop walking before it turned into a blood bath.

As soon as I had an upper hand, I shoved him backwards. My theory became a fact when I heard a close growl sound off from behind me, near my ear. From over Vasquez's shoulder I watched as 10K took a step forward.

Cassandra must've taken a step away from behind Murphy.

"She'd rip you to shreds." I reminded him, walking away from Murphy's front to get beside our new hot-head.

I pulled his weight back over to the imaginary boundary line that all of us had created.

"Chill out, Rambo." Murphy spoke up immediately after I had gotten a short leash around Vasquez's neck.
