"Human to zombie; it didn't matter if you were once old with arthritis. There was even a little baby zombie on the road, crawling around faster than what it should've been. We finally made it out of the wreck, but there was still a lot of smoke, or maybe it was fog.

"That's when we started to hear shouts come from in front of us. It wasn't painful or ear-piercing, but it sounded formal and demanding; like military. Mack told us to speed up our pace, so I guess it was safe.

"When we got to where he wanted us, I saw a lot of people against a large, metal gate and it looked like more were coming. There was at least 50 bodies trying to get pass this gate. I could see the uniforms of military pressed against it, trying to hold so many citizens back.

"They weren't budging. Mack let out three shots from the gun he had, which cleared a path in a hurry. We were up front in no time, but the soldiers there wouldn't let me or Addy get pass them. I remember this young Korean woman getting pass this huge guard, and I was really amazed by her determination." I let out a light laugh at the memory that should be considered off, but in that moment, I was grasping on to anything good.

Anything at all.

"Anyway, with people still coming for this block-off, we all failed to realize that the Zs were also hot on our trail; I even think someone was bit in the crowd. Once I saw how the Korean woman got pass a guard, I did exactly like her, hoping that Addy was right behind me.

"We got pass the guards together. In front of us was a blue minivan just sitting there; like it was asking to be rode in. It was Addy that threw me inside the vehicle, but before she could even set foot inside, the driver just took off.

"I was screaming for them to go back for Addy and Mack, but the man who was driving only told me it was too dangerous. I was in the back seat with a woman who could've been my grandma and the same Korean woman from the fence was inside the car.

"After I had settled down and let the thoughts of never seeing Mack sink in, we were all quiet. I don't think anyone was actually thinking at the time; we just wanted out of the situation as safely as possible.

"I begged for him to turn around, claiming that they were both my only family left alive. He just told me he couldn't and he wouldn't if he could. He was a tanned Hispanic man that was growing a beard.

"The grandma beside me had freshly dyed blonde hair and blue eyes. Her wrists were.. were weighed down with all sorts of jewelry, as if it would help her now. She was trying to get me to at least quiet down, but I wanted my brother.

"After a good thirty minutes, we started to notice a black truck following us."

Tears burned in the brim of my eyes as I felt the events sinking back into my memory. I never wanted to relieve this, but maybe it'll be good to get it out. Mom use to tell me she would prefer me to speak about whatever was bothering me, then keep it bottled.

Maybe talking about it--the crash, William cursing, the blood splattering all over the building we crashed into, glass breaking, because of a woman flying out beside me--will be good for me, mentally.

I took a deep breath, focusing my eyes on the ceiling of our van, "We started out with four in the vehicle, but once we stopped, it was just three of us. The blond beside me, Barbara, was thrown out of the windshield, because she didn't hear William, the man driving, tell her to put her seat belt on.

"We crashed into the side of a brick wall. I remember seeing the flash of color from clothing going pass me, then hearing that crunch of bones. It was enough to kill her, but it wasn't enough to hit the control center."

I sniffed, reminiscing the body of a woman, who didn't deserve to die like that, thrown against a brick wall. Her body had fallen back down against the windshield of the van, allowing her blood to fill the dash.

"The Korean woman, Sun, pulled me out of the vehicle since I couldn't process what I was seeing fast enough. We ran with William right behind us. The end." I ended it quickly, growing tired of having to remember the rest of it.

"How did you find Mack and Addy?" Doc asked, not figuring I wanted to stop talking about it.

"I stayed with Sun and William for a whole night inside a diner with the people that helped kill Barbara." I crossed my arms against my chest, wanting to be held, "No one knew how to kill it then. So, we stayed there until these people came and when they came, they had Addy and Mack.

"I said my goodbyes to William and Sun, and that was the last time I saw them."

My hands tightened their grip around my shirt, not enjoying this story. I swear I'm not fucked up. Just a little messed up from the apocalypse; that's all.
