"Hey, Rina!" You opened the door to her room with an optimistic attitude. She looked at you with a weak smile from her bed. Her condition was definitely worse.

The desk beside her had a few pieces of origami paper, a cup of water, and a bunch of paper animals.

You pulled up a chair to her bed. "Don't talk too much, you'll get worse," you advised. "I just want to talk to you about what's been going on."

Rina nodded, attempting to take a cup of water from the table beside her. You saw her struggling and helped her bring it closer to her.

"I've been thinking, I should apply for the Battle of the Bands this year," you explained. The Battle of the Bands was an event that was held every year and you and Rina joined it every year. "If I can get a voice from that business, even if it's just temporary, they'll let me apply. I know the event means a lot to you."

Rina nodded again, smiling and eyes sparking when you mentioned it. "You should ask Mic to do it," she joked in a teasing but hoarse voice. You both knew how well he sings.

You gave a nervous laugh and reddened a bit. You've told her about your crush on him a long time ago, and when you told her about actually meeting him she's been teasing you about it nonstop. Your crushing never really flustered you except for when Rina teases you about it.

"I actually got to talk to him again yesterday, during the visit to the school," you said, evading the advice. "And Shota, the Erasure hero you always forget about. Hizashi understood those problems I have with public views and stuff too."

Rina gave a small chuckle. "Perhaps you'll get inspiration for your romance novel from them."

"About that," you faltered. "I've been thinking about giving up on that. It's too difficult, honestly."

Rina raised an eyebrow at you, frowning in disappointment.

"Look, there's a high chance I won't finish it," you explained. "I think I'll just start another mystery or something. I'll try something new like adventure, fantasy, or maybe even sci-fi once I get more motivated."

There was a long pause.

"Who knows, maybe I will finish it someday," you said, a bit guilty. Rina loved your stories and supported every single one of your books. "I'll let you read the in-progress book once you get better. If you like it and have any suggestions, I'll do my best to finish it."

"I won't get better," Rina said simply.

"Don't say that," you scolded. "You'll get better. I'll find a way to get you better if it's the last thing I do."

Rina gave you a small smile, then coughed a bit.

"You're my best friend," you insisted. Rina sighed. "What makes you think you won't get better?"

"Just a feeling. And it's pretty obvious." Her voice got smaller and smaller the more she talked.

"I...." your voice faltered as she looked away. Usually she was the optimistic one.

"I barely have enough strength to use my quirk anymore." Rina nodded towards the origami animals she had folded. She raised her hand to touch an origami frog. The frog shook for a bit, jumped once, then stopped.

"Then don't. Save your strength to heal." You paused. "You should rest now. I'll... I'll leave."

You watched as she sighed once more and closed her eyes. You hum and let out the small purring sound, activating your quirk, pleading that she'll get better. It was barely even a minute before you saw her chest rise up and down slowly and decided that she fell asleep.
