❝It's funny.❞ He laughed. ❝Before, I was only interested in proving the mystery that Zim was an alien, but now-❞, his face closer to your own and a hand interweaving with yours, ❝- the only mystery I want to...

Your POV
I watched time go by within each tick of the clock. At the sound of lunch bell finally ringing, everyone sprung up from their seats ignoring the angry hisses from Ms.Bitters.
"All you filthy children are going to end up being obese or filled with rotten teeth anyway." She commented.
Apparently, there wasn't enough space for everyone to get through the door and nobody had much patience for this. To prove it, one of my peers had pushed past me rather roughly enough for me to fall on the ground.
"Move it, loser." The cruel girl said and waltzed off. I glared at her as the temptation to yank her hair back grew, but my subconscious told me otherwise. I did not want to get in trouble on my first day.
"Need a hand?" I heard a genuine yet familiar voice. I looked up and saw a smiling Dib. He offered me his hand for the second time today, but I accepted it, unlike the first time.
"Yeah, they're a tough crowd." He said to himself. "...but you get used to it."
"Getting bruises every day? I don't think so." I released my hand from his and started walking. Dib immediately followed me in an attempt to begin a conversation.
"You won't get bruises, more like minor scrapes and don't worry as long as you stay in the back, nobody can push you." He reassured. He faced forward and pointed to the entrance of the cafeteria. "Wanna sit with me at lunch? My sister's there."
Dib smiled hopefully. I smiled at his offer. Usually, someone else would have lost interest in me already from my lack of socializing, but it seems like Dib wasn't like anyone else.
"Yeah." I nodded.
A wide grin spread across his face. He began walking ahead as I followed him. His long lab coat followed his every step which caught my eye. It is a really nice touch to his nerdy look.
We arrived at the cafeteria and awaited the long line until we received our questionable lunch. As Dib said, Gaz was already sitting at an empty table playing with her game system. Dib sat next to her and me across from them. It was a brief silence as I poked my food.
"Don't think about eating it," Gaz said. She didn't need to remove her eyes from her game in order to see the gross food on my plate. I sighed and pushed it away wishing I had brought lunch for myself. I guess my wish came true because half of a sandwich was placed on an empty spot of my tray.

Dib's POV
I placed half of a sandwich on (Name)'s plate causing her to look up at me in confusion. Her eyes glanced at the sandwich then to me.
My heartbeat sped up at her cute confusion. She hesitantly took the sandwich and ate it. "Thank you." She smiled slightly. I smiled back softly.
Her eyes looked towards Gaz who didn't look back at her. She looked down at her lap with a concerned expression. It was obvious that she wasn't much of an outgoing person. Even though I was an outcast, my personality has always been out there. People knew me as the weird kid so after tolerating years of constant name-calling or just being ignored must've built up my confidence more. As ironic as it sounds, the haters made me who I am.
The only person, other than the entire world, who I've ever wanted to impress and make proud was my dad. My eyes returned back to (Name) who was staring at the table. Her eyes held a lot more emotion than they did on the bus. I was about to ask but a green being came into my vision.

Your POV
He just willingly gave me a part of his food. Out of the generosity of his heart...who does that? The last time I gave me their food was to let them copy my work.
"Hello, Dib-stink." Zim, the green boy, glares at Dib. He briefly locks eyes with me as he walked past our table to sit in the back tables. I was the first one to break the stare to prevent being insulted.
"I didn't want to ask, but what was that about?" I raised a brow at Dib. Gaz briefly stopped her gaming and shook her head at me. Her look said it all when Dib's eyes glimmered in interest.
"I am glad you asked. See-" He bowed his head and whispered. "-Zim is an alien. He came here to take over Earth, but he's posing as a regular boy."
My eyes widened as I took this new information in.
I swear on everything that this was the craziest thing I've ever heard. Actually, it wasn't but it was close. I stayed silent before slowly nodding.
If I stay quiet then he can't create another conversation. Okay so far so- oh now he's sad.
"It's alright if you don't believe me. Soon I'll capture him and expose that scumbag." Dib claimed in determination, taking a bite out of his sandwich. His eyes flickered over to me with a hopeful expression on his face.
"Listen, you don't have to believe me now but just thinking about it. I observed the way you looked at him." He says.
"Pervert. I wonder what else you were observing." Gaz commented.
Dib's face reddened as he choked. "No!"
"Thanks for the sandwich and letting me sit here, but I have to go to the library." I lied. The two stopped their small argument. Dib opened his mouth to say something but I had already walked away.
I sighed at my stupid excuse. They probably think I'm rude now. I pushed aside the guilt and looked on the bright side of this. Now they won't have to deal with me. It's better to end things now before I get too attached. It was foolish to have accepted his offer so fast.
My pace quickened when the bell rang. Luckily I made it to class without being shoved on the floor or squished by other bodies.
So far so good. Just remain alone and nobody can bother you. You don't want a repeat of last time.
